Welcome to our guide on how to seamlessly integrate your Polar MCP data into ChatGPT for users on Personal (Plus/Pro) and Team plans. Whether you’re a solo creator or part of a collaborative team, this article will walk you through the steps from enabling Developer Mode to getting your rich ecommerce insights — pulled from platforms like Shopify, Amazon, and ad networks — into ChatGPT. Let’s get you conversationally empowered with your data.

Installing the Polar MCP in Chat GPT will require a paid Personal plan (Plus or Pro) or a paid Professional plan (Business or Enterprise).

Paid Personal Plans (Plus or Pro) MCP Installation

  • Enable Developer mode
    Open https://chatgpt.com/ or ChatGPT Desktop
Go to Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced Settings > Enable Developer Mode

  • Create the Polar MCP connector
Go to Settings > Apps & Connectors > Create (top right)

Icon: Hover over this image, click the three dots and choose “Download”

    Name: Polar

Description: Provides blended eCommerce data from Shopify, Amazon, Ad Platforms and more

    Authentication: OAuth

OAuth Client ID & Secret: Keep empty

    Click Create.

  • Sign up to Polar (or sign in if you already have an account)

Allow OpenAI to access your Polar data

    You should then see this:

  • Connect data and wait for the sync
If you’re new to Polar, you’ll be asked to connect some data sources.

    • Data source setup guide available here: Setup Data Sources

    • Wait for email confirmation that at least one data source has synced. The initial historical data sync can take up to 24 hours for new Polar customers.

  • Chat with your data
    Ensure Polar is enabled

Make sure Polar is added a source when asking a question

Ask a question, and allow the tools to run

    Verify the output

    Troubleshooting

The MCP server can't be used by ChatGPT

If you see this error, implement the Polar specification "search action not found"

The Agent seems to be getting worse over time

  • We regularly update the MCP, and ChatGPT does not automatically refresh the tool context it has, which can lead to strange behaviors.

  • To fix it, open the connector settings and click on the Polar connector

  • Scroll down to Actions and click the refresh button

It should now have the latest tool definitions again
