What is a Monitor?

Monitors are automatic alerts when new results for a topic show up in Pro Intelligence. You can configure monitors to get info about topics, keywords, company names, or people from news, legislation, cases, tweets, press releases, speeches, debates, and more.

What information is included within a Monitor?

A Monitor continuously looks for new content and information within bills/ procedures, cases, initiatives/ consultations, press releases, transcripts, activities, tweets, and Politico news (both your subscribed Pro policy areas and free content).

How is a Monitor updated?

Monitors are updated automatically, looking continuously for any new content within Pro Intelligence related to your keywords and topics of interest. Anything detected will be automatically added within your Monitor, when a new item has been added or dealt with you’ll see the alerts icon in the Project menu adjust up or down accordingly.

Why don't I see any results in my Monitor?

Monitors are typically used as a real-time, forward looking tool. If you create a new Monitor and do not see any immediate results it likely means there has not been any keyword mentions in the past 14 days, new Monitors include a 14 day look-back period by default. After several days you still do not have any mentions in your Monitor inbox, we suggest adjusting your keywords to include a wider range of potential results.

Will I receive Monitor alerts?

As a Monitor is continuously updated throughout each day, we do not send email notifications for every single update, instead, each Monitor is included within a daily email digest indicating where you have new information to review.

For alerts throughout the day you can look to the Projects tab in the main menu navigation. Here you’ll see a number indicating the current number of items in your Monitor inbox. As new items come in or you mark items as read, the number adjusts accordingly.

How can I filter a Monitor?

A Monitor can be filtered by information type, including bills/ procedures, cases, initiatives/ consultations, press releases, transcripts, activities, tweets, and Politico news. You can also filter to see only new content (default), as well as content that has been marked as read and removed from the inbox.

How can I mark an Monitor item as read?

As a Monitor is like an inbox for policy information you’re following, the goal is to remain up to date on all items, dealing with anything new as it comes in. After reviewing an item that has been found within your Monitor you can remove it by selecting the box on the left hand side of the item, and selecting “mark as read” located at the top. Items marked as read can always be reviewed again later.

How do I create a Monitor?

A Monitor can be created within a Project, read how to create a Monitor step-by-step here.
