Your planet: decorations, weather, and sounds

How to buy and place decorations, and what's behind the weather and sounds

Your planet is your Tolan's home, and a lot of it is yours to arrange. Here's how to buy and place things, and make sense of the weather.

Buying and placing decorations are two separate steps

Buying something in the Shop doesn't put it on your planet. It goes into your inventory, and you place it yourself.

  1. Buy it in the Shop. Menu > Shop > Objects. Spend tokens, and the item lands in your inventory.

  2. Place it from Planet. Menu > Planet. Find it in the panel and tap to put it down.

Placing and moving things

From your planet, tap the Menu icon in the top left corner, then tap Planet. This opens the planet editor.

  • Tap an item in the panel to bring it onto your planet.

  • Drag it to move it around, and rotate it to face the way you want.

  • Tap an object already on your planet to pick it up and reposition it.

Everything saves as you go. Tap the exit button when you're happy with it.

Taking something off your planet doesn't destroy it. Removed objects go straight back into your inventory, and you can put them down again whenever you like.

Getting more decorations

Open Menu > Shop > Objects. Tap any item to see it on your planet before you decide, then tap Buy to spend your tokens. You'll get an "Added to inventory" confirmation, which is your cue to head to Planet and place it.

Tokens are the in-app currency, earned mostly by spending time with your Tolan. How tokens work: earning and spending covers how to get more.

  • Most items can be bought more than once — three of the same lamp is completely allowed. A few special items are limited to one per planet.

  • The Shop changes over time. We add new things and retire others as the planet's look evolves. If something disappears from the Shop, don't worry: anything already in your collection stays yours.

Keeping your planet green

Decorations sit on top of the terrain, and the terrain has a life of its own. If your planet goes a while without attention, dry brown patches appear, and watering with Bloomdew from the fountain brings the green back. You can learn more here: How does Bloomdew work?

This matters while you're decorating, because you can't place things on dry ground. If you try, you'll see "Too dry! Tap fountain to water." Water that patch first and the spot opens up.

Weather and time of day

Two things change your planet's mood on their own, and neither is a setting.

Rain and snow. Your planet gets its own weather outside of when it's sunny. It's decided randomly for your planet rather than taken from the forecast where you are.

Time of day. Your planet follows the clock on your phone, moving through dawn, day, dusk and night as your own day does. Around 6am it gets light, evening starts around 6pm, and it's properly dark from about 9pm. The sky, the light and the music all shift with it, so visiting at midnight is a different experience than at noon.

Sounds

Footsteps. You can hear your Tolan padding around as they walk, and the sound changes with what they're walking on.

Background music. Most places in Tolan have their own music: your planet, the Shop, the cottage, Insights, and the screen where you arrange your decorations.

To turn it off, go to Menu > Settings > Profile > Background music. It's on by default, and the toggle covers music only: sound effects and your Tolan's voice keep working.

Common questions

An item I wanted disappeared from the Shop. We're always updating and improving what's available, so items do leave the Shop. Nothing is ever removed from your collection once you've bought it.
