Quick Steps
Open any process or value stream that has a process link
A blue PLUS icon will be visible at the bottom centre of your linked process
Select this PLUS icon
The process that’s linked should open up on the map, encased in a large blue rectangle.
The blue PLUS icon will change into a MINUS icon, moved to the top left corner. It will be followed by the activity number and the linked process title.
To collapse the expanded process link, select the MINUS icon. The process will collapse to its default state as per the picture above.
Further Information on Linked Process Map Expansion
When a process link is expanded, we refer to it as a 'sub-map'
A sub-map will be view-only. To edit the sub-map, open the process link by selecting 'Open Process' (via right-click/ magnifying glass/ diagram content menu).
The sub-map will always display in embedded view, and not in swimlane view. To read more about the different views, click here. To view the linked process map in swimlane view or to edit it, open the linked process by following these steps.
Each time that the page loads, the sub-maps will be collapsed.
When a process link is expanded, the nodes that follow it will move to the right-hand side of the map. This is to make space for the expanded sub-map. When the sub-map is collapsed, the map will return to its original display.
Multiple linked processes can be expanded on each process.
When a linked process is expanded, right-clicking on the 'empty space' within the expanded sub-map will open the context menu for the process link itself.
Printing a Process with Expanded Sub-Maps
When printing a process with expanded sub-processes, the sub-processes will be displayed as collapsed. I.e. expanded sub-processes will not display on the map when printing.
Exceptions:
The plus sign (for expansion) will not display on a process link in the following locations:
