Learning to use the Report Builder
This guide will cover some basic functionalities and tips for the Report Builder, a useful tool for generating customized data tables with the parameters of your choice.
Creating a New Report
You can build a new report from scratch by clicking the blue New Report button in the main navigation, or by editing one of our many templates found in the 'Report Library' tab.
Navigating the Report Builder
On the left side of the screen, you'll find a variety of fields to pick from. For definitions of each field, see our Analytics Glossary. Simply drag a field to either the rows or columns section to organize your data based on one of these fields. Remember that the order matters here, so you'll want to start with broad categories followed by more narrow breakdowns.
For example, a typical view will organize the columns by
Year of Principal Photography Start Datefollowed byQuarter of Principal Photography Start Date.A typical organization of your rows may be
Countryfollowed byState.
Only want to include a portion of the data? Click on the down arrow that follows each field and select only the categories you would like to include to filter down the data.
Customizing the Output Data
Depending on what you are trying to track, it makes sense to change the aggregation method of a given report. Aggregation methods drive what is actually displayed in your table, such as the number of productions or the sum of estimated production budgets.
These can be changed in the upper left corner of each report. The three most common aggregation methods are as follows:
Count of Unique Productions: This will return a simple count of the number of productions that fall into a given category.Sum of Total Production Budget: This will return the total spend of all the productions in a given category. Use this to track spend for any fields not related to location, such asGenreorPrimary Production Company.Sum of Location Budgets: This will return the total estimated spend of all the productions in a certain location. Use this method when filtering byRegion,Country,State, orCity.
Saving your Reports
There are a few different options for saving your reports so you can return to them later.
Save will overwrite an existing report and update it to your current view.
Save As will create a new saved report, useful when you want to preserve your original report or if you began by editing one of our templates in the library.
Export as CSV will generate a .CSV file of the data that you can save to your device.

Troubleshooting
Data not appearing as expected?
Check your filters to ensure you aren't accidentally excluding pertinent data. Field names will appear in blue when filters are applied.
Data not being organized in the way you would like?
Try switching the fields in your rows and columns. It is usually best to display broader categories like time frames as columns, and more narrow categories like
Parent Studioas rows.Remember to take advantage of the filtering function to exclude unnecessary data when dealing with larger reports.
