To create your options in the PC app, go to Apps in Shopify, open Product Customizer, and start in the Options section.
Follow the steps below to create your options:
Step 1
Click the Create option.
A new window will open, allowing you to create options based on your requirements, with a live preview displayed on the right. This preview lets you see how the options will appear on both desktop and mobile devices.
Step 2
Enter the Admin Name, Option Name, and Option Label. These fields are required, and your options won’t be saved if any are missing.
Step 3
Choose the input type for the option from the 11 available input types.
Checkbox
Font picker
Color swatch
Text (single line text)
Dropdown
Radio button
Date picker
Image swatch
Text area (paragraph text)
File upload
Multi-file upload
You can also mark an option as required. Required options must be completed by customers and cannot be skipped before adding the product to the cart. Please note that this will only work if your theme supports validation.
Below are examples of each input type for your reference:
1. Checkbox:
An admin name, an option name and an option label are added, and the input type is set to Checkbox. To add multiple values under the checkbox option, click Add another value for each additional entry.
You can also add a price add-on to charge extra for specific values if needed. Simply enter the additional amount in the Price column next to each value. Additionally, you can set the minimum and maximum number of boxes that can be checked.
To remove an option value, click the delete icon located to the right of the price column.
At the top of the screen, you’ll see options to Discard or Save. Use Save to store your newly created option. You’ll also see a live preview of the option as it will appear on both desktop and mobile pages.
2. Font Picker:
Here, you can add the names of the Google Fonts that you want your customers to choose from. Each font you add will appear as an option value in the list.
3. Color Swatch:
Click on the black color thumbnail to open the full color palette. You can then select any color from the pattern, which will be added as an option. After choosing the color, enter its name as the option value.
4. Text:
To create a text option, you only need to select the input type. You can also add a placeholder to guide customers and specify the maximum number of characters they can enter.
5. Dropdown:
To create a dropdown option, select the Dropdown input type. You can then add the dropdown variants one by one by clicking the Add another value button.
6. Radio button:
To create a radio button option, select the Radio Button input type and add the variants. You can also add prices for each variant if needed.
7. Date picker:
When creating a date option, you don’t need to add any option values. Simply select the Date Picker input type, and a calendar will be added automatically.
8. Image swatch:
For this option, you need to add an image along with its corresponding name for each option value. You can configure it to allow either multiple selections or a single selection.
9. Paragraph text (Text area):
For the Text Area input type, customers can enter a paragraph of text. No option values are needed, and you can add a placeholder as well as set a maximum character limit.
10. File upload:
For the Image Upload option, customers can upload a single image. No option values are required, and you can add an add-on price for the upload field if needed.
11. Multi-file upload:
For the Multi-File Upload option, customers can upload multiple files, such as logos or images. You need to add option values for each upload field. You can also set an add-on price for each value if needed, and each file upload will appear as a separate entry.
All options you create are displayed under the ‘Options’ section in our app.
