OPTION TYPES - What fields are available

Product Customizer allows you to add 11 basic types of customization options to your products:

There’s no limit to the number of customization options you can add. This document provides an overview of each option type, and you can explore our detailed guides to learn more about managing your options effectively.

A Color Swatch Picker option is shown on your product page as a dropdown menu selector. For example, if you create a “Color” option for a product and specify different colors as selections, the customization on the product page will appear as a dropdown list where customers can choose their preferred color.

Product Customizer makes editing options easier than Shopify variants, because you don’t need to create a new variant each time you want to add or remove a color.

A Single-Line Text Input adds a small text box to your product page. Customers can use it to enter a single line of text when adding a product to their cart. This is especially useful for:

A Text Area (Paragraph) Input adds a larger text box that allows customers to enter multiple lines of text. For example, they can provide a longer personalization message.

These customizations will appear on the product page like this:

The File Upload option lets customers upload a file to go with their product. This could be an image, a document, or any other type of file.

It’s especially useful when you need extra design input from a customer, for example, for a custom print job, t-shirt prints, or other personalized products.

You can also add multiple file upload fields on the same product page, allowing customers to upload several files if needed.

A Single Checkbox adds a single checkbox to your product page. This is ideal for “yes or no” options, such as:

On the cart page, the checkbox will appear with a ✅ checkmark if selected, and it will be excluded from the cart if not checked.

A Multi-Select Checkbox lets you add a set of checkboxes to your product page. Unlike a dropdown or radio button option, customers can select multiple values for the field.

For example, a customer could choose 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the samples from the following group:

You can also set a minimum and/or maximum number of selections for the group, giving you full control over how many options a customer can pick.

A Radio Button works similarly to a dropdown: customers can select only one option in the field.

This option type is ideal for customizations with just a few choices, allowing customers to see all options at a glance.

For example, a radio button option might look like this:

The Font Picker option adds another layer of customization by allowing customers to select the font they want for their order.

On the product page, it will display a list of available fonts for customers to choose from. Only Google Fonts can be previewed; if a customer clicks Preview, they will be taken directly to the corresponding Google Fonts page to see how the font looks.

The Date Picker option lets customers select a specific date for their order.

This is useful for setting:

On the product page, it will display a calendar widget that customers can use to choose their desired date.

The Image Swatch option allows merchants to add custom images for customers to choose from.

On the product page, it will display a list of image options, and customers can select one or multiple images depending on how the option is configured.

The Dropdown Menu option provides a pre-defined list of choices for customers, allowing them to select one option from the list.

On the product page, it will appear as a drop-down list that customers can click to view and select their choice.
