Export Types in ProgressionLIVE

How can we export our data?

Overview of export types in ProgressionLIVE

ProgressionLIVE offers two distinct export mechanisms, each with a specific purpose.

  • Full export (via the "Import / Export" button)

  • "Export to Excel" (screen display-based export)

⚠️ Important: These two export types are not interchangeable and do not serve the same use cases.

1. Full export (via the "Import / Export" button)

General description

The Import / Export button export allows you to export all data associated with an entity.

This export is ideal for:

  • migration,

  • data backup,

  • bulk data creation or updates.

Locating the button in the ProgressionLIVE interface

In the ProgressionLIVE interface:

  • The Import / Export button is accessible from the action bar on most management screens (Customers, Tasks, Products, etc.).

  • It is separate from the Export to Excel button, which is generally located nearby.

When you click Import / Export:

  • a window opens,

  • it contains several tabs, including Importation, Import Templates, and Exportation,

  • the Exportation tab lets you choose the generic export type (e.g., Customers, Tasks, Recurrences, Types, etc.).

The screenshot associated with this section shows the location of the "Import / Export" button and the generic export window.

What the full export allows

✅ Export all data for an entity, without visual filtering
✅ Get a file with import-compatible headers
✅ Reuse the file as a working template

Relationship with import

Files generated via Import / Export:

  • follow the structure expected by ProgressionLIVE,

  • can be modified,

  • then re-imported to create or update data.

➡️ This is the only export type recommended when an import is planned afterward.

2. "Export to Excel" (screen display-based export)

General description

The Export to Excel option exports only the data currently displayed on screen.

This includes:

  • visible rows,

  • displayed columns,

  • applied filters.

Recommended use

This export is ideal for:

  • creating one-off reports,

  • analysis,

  • sharing targeted lists.

➡️ Data selection is done exclusively through the interface (filters and columns).

Important limitation

❌ Column headers are visual, not technical
❌ Exported files are not import-compatible

➡️ A file from "Export to Excel" should never be used as an import source.

General best practices

✅ Use Export to Excel for reporting only
✅ Always test imports with a sample
❌ Do not modify column headers in a file intended for import

Supported entities (overview)

The Import / Export button works with several families of entities. This section provides a high-level overview, without going into the specific rules for each entity.

Data entities

These entities represent operational data (records):

  • Tasks

  • Recurrences

  • Task groups

  • Customers

  • Locations

  • Human resources

  • Equipment

  • Products

  • Price lists

  • Timesheets

Configuration entities (Types)

Entities whose name starts with "Type" correspond to configuration:

  • Task types

  • Customer types

  • Location types

  • Human resource, equipment, and product types

  • Dynamic and generic types

  • Configurations

  • Statuses

➡️ These exports concern structure and rules, not the data itself.
