Re-display Conditions: Overview

Explains the re-display conditions that control how often and when a Promolayer display is shown again to a visitor.

Re-display Conditions is a feature that lets you control how often a display appears to the same visitor. Set a waiting period between views, limit the total number of impressions, or configure behavior after a form submission.

How it works

Re-display settings are evaluated each time a trigger condition is met. If the conditions are not satisfied (e.g., not enough time has passed), the display is suppressed for that user.

Options

After the following time has passed

How long to wait before showing the display again. Example: "1 day" = will not appear for 24 hours after it was last shown, regardless of how many pages are visited. (Unavailable when Teaser is enabled.)

Allow re-display after form submission

Off by default — the display will not reappear after a user submits a form. Turn on if you want repeat impressions even after submission (e.g., a coupon button that can be pressed multiple times).

Maximum number of times to show per user

Limit the total number of times the display can appear to the same user. Can be combined with "time before re-display" (e.g., "1 day" + "Maximum 3 times" = once per day, up to 3 times total).

Show up to X times per user (with time period)

"3 times / All time" = maximum 3 times ever. "3 times / Current visit" = up to 3 times during the current visit, resetting each new session.

Notes

This setting is unavailable when Teaser is enabled.

When re-display is set to "Every time a page is visited," reloading the same page also counts as a visit — the display can fire on each reload until the maximum is reached.

Example: "Every time a page is visited" + "Maximum 3 times" → simply reloading the same page 3 times triggers the display 3 times.

Whether or not the display was closed does not matter. Even if the user navigated away without closing it, the display will not reappear until the set time has elapsed.
