About Impression Counting

How Promolayer counts impressions — the mechanism by which content is only counted when it is actually displayed, and how to check monthly usage.

An impression is counted the moment a trigger condition is met and the display (either the main popup or the teaser) appears on the screen. No additional count occurs while the same display continues switching states on the screen.

Counting method

  • If the main popup is displayed and the visitor closes it, turning it into a teaser (the small icon or text that appears in the corner of the screen after the popup is closed), the impression count remains at 1 and is not incremented.

  • If the visitor then clicks that teaser to reopen the main popup, the impression count remains at 1 and is not incremented.

  • If, when the trigger condition is met, the teaser is displayed first instead of the main popup, that is counted as 1 impression at that point. If the visitor subsequently clicks the teaser to open the main popup, the impression count remains at 1 and is not incremented.

A display shown as the result of a single trigger evaluation is counted as 1 impression, no matter how many times it switches between the main popup and the teaser.

How to check your impression count

Click the user icon in the top right corner of the screen to see this month's impression count and your current plan's impression limit. Usage resets on the 1st of each month.

The example below shows 129 impressions with a limit of 100,000 impressions.
