On-site Preview lets you see how a display looks and behaves on your actual website before making it public. Click the Preview button in the editor to open the preview panel — the display state at the moment you click is what will be shown.
Preview views are not counted in display view statistics.

How it works
On-site Preview opens your website in a new tab with the display injected, so you can check appearance and behavior in a realistic context. You can:
Simulate triggers and display rules
Switch between mobile and desktop viewports
Test form submission flows without registering real data
Rule settings
Ignore rules — The display appears immediately, bypassing all rules and triggers. Use this to confirm the display renders correctly regardless of targeting conditions.
Follow rules — The display respects all configured rules and triggers, but will also appear while the display is still in draft mode.
If the display does not appear even with Ignore rules, the Promolayer script has most likely not been installed on your site. Please contact support.
Other settings
URL — The page to open when you click the Preview button.
Clear browser storage before opening — Clears browser storage (Web Storage) so you can simulate a first-time visitor. Useful when rules depend on display view history, button clicks, or page view counts.
QR code — Generates a QR code that opens the same preview URL — handy for checking how the display looks on a real mobile device.
Preview warnings
During preview, you may see the warning: "This display will not appear on your live site due to the following rules." This means your current browser would not trigger the display under real conditions. The warning lists the specific blocking rules — use them as hints to diagnose your rule configuration.
Testing forms in preview
You can test the full form submission flow during preview. Submitting a form will:
Transition to the Thank You step so you can verify its appearance
Show any post-conversion coupon as "SAMPLEONLY"
Submitting a form during preview does not register email addresses, send follow-up emails, or create coupons.
