The "Display on return to tab" trigger displays a popup when a user switches back to your tab after visiting another tab or window. It is ideal for re-engaging visitors who have left your site, and is especially effective for cart abandonment prevention.
Requirements
The "Display on return to tab" trigger is available on the Plus plan only.
Steps
Open the Display settings and navigate to the Rules section.
Enable the toggle for "Display on return to tab" under Triggers when.
Once enabled, two options will appear:
Trigger multiple times per pageview: The popup appears every time the visitor switches tabs.
Trigger once per pageview: The popup appears only once per page view, regardless of how many times the visitor switches tabs.
Select the appropriate option for your use case and save the Display settings.
Use cases
Cart abandonment prevention: Present a discount or offer when customers return after researching competitor sites.
Re-engagement: Remind visitors about limited-time offers or flash sales.
Newsletter sign-up: Capture email addresses from returning visitors in exchange for an attractive offer.
Note: Before going live, test the Come Back trigger by switching tabs and returning to your site to ensure the popup displays as expected.
