Plan Changes: Billing and Proration Specifications

Explains how billing works when you upgrade, downgrade, or cancel a paid Promolayer plan via Stripe, including how proration is calculated.

This article explains how billing works when you upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your Promolayer plan via Stripe.

Specifications

Upgrades and downgrades take effect immediately. Cancellations remain active until the next payment date.

Your payment date is the date you first subscribed to a paid plan (e.g. if you subscribed on April 1, your payment date is the 1st of every month). This date does not change when you change plans.

Upgrade example (Standard: ¥7,000 / Pro: ¥16,000):
Subscribe to Standard on Apr 1, upgrade to Pro on Apr 16.
Charge: (16,000 - 7,000) × 15/30 = ¥4,500 (difference × remaining day ratio)
From May 1 onwards: ¥16,000 per month.

Downgrade example:
Subscribe to Pro on Apr 1, downgrade to Standard on Apr 16.
Credit: 7,000 × 15/30 - 16,000 × 15/30 = -¥4,500
This ¥4,500 credit is applied automatically to your next payment, so May 1 charge: ¥7,000 - ¥4,500 = ¥2,500.

Cancellation:
Cancelling does not immediately revert you to the free plan — it stops auto-renewal. Your current plan continues until the next payment date, after which you return to the free plan.

Limitations

  • The prorated calculations above are simplified. In practice, amounts are calculated to the second.
