If you're a teacher looking to add Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and record hours for your licensure renewal on Proserva, this article will guide you step by step.

If you are an employed or non-employed community member sending your renewal to a district other than your own, please go to this article.

1. Accessing the License Tab

Begin by navigating to the License tab. Under "Renew," you will see an option labeled Set Up Your Existing Licenses.

  • District-Affiliated Teachers: If you've signed up through your district, your licenses should already be set up in this section.

  • Independent Teachers: If you've registered individually, this is where you can add the licenses you're currently enrolled in.

2. Adding License Information

  1. Specify your license tier and location. For instance, you might have a "Tier 4" license in "Minnesota".

  2. Input your unique teaching or folder number.

  3. Click Save and Next.

3. Selecting Your Licensed Subjects

  1. Choose the subjects you're licensed to teach, e.g., "Science Chemistry" and "English as a Second Language".

  2. Click Next.

4. Specifying Your License Renewal Date

  1. Set your renewal date, for instance, "2024, June 30".

  2. If your licenses expire at different types, click the checkbox and set each license date separately.

  3. Click Save.

5. Recording Hours

  1. Click Record Hours to log any relevant professional development activities.

  2. You can:

    • Choose evidence from your evidence library.

    • Add courses or observations you've completed.

    • Specify the date, duration, and type of each activity. For instance, a "Staff Development" activity titled "Inclusion in the General Education Curriculum" might have taken 6 hours.

    • Select relevant criteria and evidence categories.

  3. Once details are filled in, click Save. This added evidence will no longer be visible in the record hours pop-up but will be added to your overall recorded hours.

6. Uploading Additional Evidence

  1. Click Browse Files.

  2. Select and upload relevant files from your computer.

  3. If the uploaded document is viewable, you'll see a preview on the left. Add details like the duration, criteria, and description of evidence.

  4. Click Add to include this in your portfolio.

7. Submitting Your Renewal

  1. Check the criteria graph to ensure you've met all required hours.

    1. Click the Requirements button to view the licensure requirements specific to your state. Confirm you've met all criteria before submission.

  2. Click Submit. Once submitted, you cannot reverse this action, so ensure all information is accurate.

  3. After submission, your hours and evidence will be listed as "Pending Approval".

8. Review and Approval

  1. As your evidence gets reviewed, individual items can either be approved or rejected.

  2. Approved items will show a green checkmark. Hovering over these items will display any comments left by the review committee.

  3. Rejected items will need modification. Check comments to understand the reason for rejection, make necessary changes, then resubmit. Make sure to send a comment back that you have made changes to the evidence.

  4. Once all items are approved, your entire renewal will undergo a final review. Upon approval, you will receive a notification confirming the success of your licensure renewal.

Final Note

Any hours recorded after your license's approval will count towards your next renewal, which will typically be set for a later expiry date.

Remember to always check Proserva's interface and guidelines as they might get updates or slight changes. This guide is intended to provide you with a clear understanding of the renewal process to help you navigate it with ease.
