Mixes on Spotify and Apple Music are relatively new, so you might have some questions on how it all works. Here are the details!

There are a few major upgrades over mixes on other platforms like SoundCloud:

  • Proton's mixes on Spotify & Apple Music are presented as a continuously mixed playlist of individual songs, as opposed to 1 giant file on SoundCloud.

  • This way, listeners on Spotify and Apple Music can see exactly what song is playing the mix, helping artists increase their fanbase and get into more playlists.

  • And most importantly, this way each listen to the DJ Mix also generates a full, monetized play for every song in the DJ Mix.

How much do I get paid when my music is featured in a mix?
When Proton releases a mix featuring your music, artists and labels earn exactly as much from any play of the track in the mix as they would from the original, unmixed release. The amount earned is based on the royalty percentage the artist or label has on the original release.

Does the mix appear on my Spotify artist page?

Yes! When a mix is published on Spotify featuring your track, you can find it on the bottom of your artist page in the "Appears on..." section. Any mix or compilation that features your music will get displayed here, so you and your fans can keep track of everywhere your music has been showcased.

Can I start releasing my own mixes?
Yes! If you're a music label owner, you can start releasing mixes right now by reading this article. If you're an artist, contact your Proton label manager to find out more.
