Ready to create your first release on your label? This is a step by step guide to help you get started in SoundSystem.
Here's the URL to bookmark for managing your music label:

Before you begin, make sure you've uploaded a logo for your label in the "Details & Settings" tab, otherwise you won't see the option to create a new release.
Step by Step Guide
1. To begin, find the "Add a New Release" form at the top of your label's "Releases" tab in SoundSystem. In this form, enter the "Release Name" and the "Catalog Number".
The name of your release should NOT include the artist name. The artist name gets added later, separately.
An example catalog number might be PROTON01, PROTON02, etc.
2. Once you've created the release, you'll be taken to a new page where you'll see the "Add Track" form. Enter the "Track Name" and "Mix Name".
When you type the "Track Name" you should NOT include the artist name. The artist name gets added later, separately.
The "Mix Name" is usually "Original Mix" for original tracks. But this is where you'd type the name of the remix, if it wasn't an original track.
If it's a remix, you SHOULD type the remixer's name in the "Mix Name", like "So & So Remix". You'll also add the remixer in the "Artist" tab, too.
3. After creating your 1st track, click "Upload WAV" to upload the mastered WAV file.
4. After uploading the 1st WAV, click the "Genre" link and select a genre for the track.
5. Now you can add the artist(s) to your track. Click "Edit" and go to the "Artist" tab. Use the "Select an Artist" form to select an artist, then enter their role and royalty percentage.
The artist menu on Proton includes any artist that has already released on any of our music labels. If your artist is not in the list, click the "Artist not listed? Add one!"
Be sure to add the remix artist(s) on the track, if any as well.
6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 until you've added all the tracks on your release!
7. Be sure to upload the Cover Art, at the top of the release page.
8. When you're done adding all the tracks and cover art, you can scroll down to the "Contract" section and send contracts to each of the royalty recipients.
Note: If you want to declare expenses on your releases to recoup costs before artists get paid, please contact us before sending contracts to your artists!
9. Proton will send you a notification as each of your artists sign their contract, with a special notification at the end once all the artists have signed.
10. When all your contracts are signed, click the button up top to schedule a date!
