When uploading new music, Proton managers have access to an "Artist Menu" that lists all the existing profiles currently setup inside our system already. If you can't find the name in the list, follow the steps to set up a new profile!
Here are answers to some common questions about setting up new artist profiles on Proton. After reading, you can reach out with questions if you're still stuck. :)
When setting up an artist profile, why does Proton only ask me to connect their Spotify & Apple profiles? What about other platforms?
Proton delivers to many platforms beyond Spotify & Apple, but these are the only 2 platforms that give us control to deliver music to a specific artist profile when 2 artists have the same name. For example, if there are 2 profiles with the name "Sasha" on Spotify, Proton helps you connect the correct profile for "Sasha" to your artist profile, so the music doesn't go to the wrong profile on Spotify or Apple.
My artist already exists on Beatport or Spotify, etc. Why don't they appear in the Proton menu?
The Proton artist menu does not include every artist that exists on Beatport, Spotify, etc. Instead, our menu contains artist profiles who have released music with us already. When a name doesn't appear in the list you can follow the steps to easily add them & set up their profile.
Is it safe to create a new artist profile, even if they already exist on Beatport, Spotify, etc?
Yes, if your artist is already on other platforms, simply set-up their profile inside Proton using the same exact artist name as it appears on Beatport, Spotify, etc. When adding them to Proton, make sure to enter the name exactly as it appears on other platforms, to make sure music gets delivered to the correct page.
On Beatport, another/different artist is already using the same name as my artist. How can we prevent music going to the wrong Beatport profile?
Unfortunately, Beatport does NOT support multiple artist profiles with the same name. This means any music by the artist "Sasha" will appear all on the same "Sasha" page on Beatport, even if it's by different artists.
To avoid this problem, we recommend your artist choose a unique name that is not already taken on Beatport. Sometimes a good solution is adding a 2 letter country code the artist is from directly in their name, like Sasha (RU) or Sasha (UK) to help make sure Beatport displays the music correctly.
