weclapp: managing packaging units

Learn how PULPO WMS automatically handles products created in weclapp as packaging units

Written by Vadim Glushachenko

This feature ensures that when your warehouse staff picks a bulk unit, Weclapp automatically receives the correct total count of individual base items, keeping your inventory perfectly synced without requiring manual calculations.

Prerequisites

  • An active PULPO WMS to Weclapp integration.

  • Products configured in Weclapp with the article type set to PACKAGING_UNIT.

  • The weclapp product integration is set up to receive the article of type PACKAGING_UNIT.

How PULPO Processes Your Packaging Units

When you create a packaging unit in weclapp (for example, a box containing 10 individual keyboards), PULPO WMS imports this product and recognises that it represents a multiple of another item.

During the import process, PULPO saves two critical pieces of information behind the scenes:

  • The original base item being grouped (the single keyboard).

  • The quantity of base items inside the packaging unit (the number 10).

Automatic Quantity Conversion During Picking

Regardless of the product type (single product or packaging unit), Weclapp requires sales orders to be updated with the exact number of base items picked, and PULPO handles this math for your floor operators automatically.

When an operator picks a packaging unit using the PULPO mobile app, the system multiplies the number of boxes picked by the number of items inside each box before sending the data back to Weclapp.

If an operator is tasked with picking 2 boxes of keyboards, and each box holds 10 keyboards, they simply confirm picking "2 units" in the PULPO app.

The system automatically updates Weclapp to show that 20 base items were successfully picked.

Working with Batch Numbers

If your packaging units require batch tracking (such as production lots and expiration dates), PULPO ensures accurate traceability by grouping the data correctly.

The system requires operators to pick and ship full packaging units of the same batch.

If an order requires multiple boxes, and your operator picks boxes belonging to different batches, PULPO automatically splits the data sent to Weclapp. For instance, picking one box from Batch A and one box from Batch B will be recorded in Weclapp as two separate line items (e.g., 10 units from Batch A, and 10 units from Batch B).
