Submitting a Puppy Application

Updated over a month ago

The PupUp application process is designed to create successful matches between puppies and their future homes. Your application allows breeders to understand your lifestyle, preferences, and readiness for dog ownership. Here's what to expect:

Application Process

  1. Initial Application: After finding a puppy or breeder you're interested in, you'll submit an application through the platform. This includes:

    • Information from your completed profile

    • Specific questions from the breeder

    • Your interest in a particular puppy or future litter

  2. Application Review: Breeders typically review applications within 5-7 days and may:

    • Request additional information via Chat.

    • Decline the application

    • Express interest in proceeding

  3. Interview Phase: When your application is approved, the breeder will reach out with their preferred method to speak with you.

    • A phone or video call

    • Potentially an in-person meeting

    • Discussion of their contract terms and expectations

  4. Decision and Deposit: If approved, you'll receive:

    • Formal approval notification

    • Instructions for placing a deposit

    • Information about the next steps

  5. Waiting Period: For puppies not yet born or ready to go home:

    • Regular updates from the breeder

    • Preparation guidance

    • Finalisation of pickup arrangements

The timeline varies widely depending on whether you're applying for an available puppy (faster process) or a future litter (could be several months). Some competitive breeds may have waiting lists of 6-12 months or longer.

Throughout the process, clear communication and promptly answering any breeder questions will strengthen your application.

What if my application isn’t approved?

If your application isn’t approved, don’t be discouraged. Ethical breeders prioritize the well-being of their puppies and aim to ensure every placement is a perfect fit. If your application isn’t a match for a specific breeder or litter, there may still be opportunities to connect with other breeders or litters that align better with your needs and circumstances.
