How to Use NovoCare® Sharps Disposal

Novo Nordisk offers a free sharps disposal container or medication disposal system through NovoCare® program. It supports a safe and compliant disposal of used injection materials that helps to reduce environmental risk and protects household members and sanitation workers.

Note: It can be redirected to authorized third-party partners that manage logistics, including PureWay or other certified medical waste handlers.


Eligibility Requirements

To easily request a free sharps container or medication disposal system, it must meet the following criteria:

  1. 18 years or older

  2. Resident in the United States or within the U.S. Territories.

  3. Current patient using a Novo Nordisk Injectable medication.

Note: Listed below are the Novo Nordisk Injectable Medication:

  • Fiasp®

  • Levemir®

  • NovoLog®

  • Ozempic®

  • Saxenda®

  • Tresiba®

  • Victoza®

  • Wegovy®

  • Xultophy®


How to Request a Free Sharps Container

To request a free sharps container, kindly follow these steps below:

  1. Visit NovoCare

  2. Navigate to the Product Support.

    • Click Patient Support and select Medication Disposal.

    • Choose the program named Free Sharps Container or Safe Needle Disposal.

  3. Complete the Request Form.

    • Confirm the Novo Nordisk you are currently using.

    • Provide basic and shipping information.

    • Kindly check to the terms of use and U.S. resident verification.

  4. Submit the Request.

    • Once submitted, it will process your request within 2 to 4 weeks.

Note: No prescription or physician verification is typically required for the sharps container.


Important Reminders

Please take note of the following reminders listed below:

  • One container only may be shipped per request, and repeat request may require revalidation of medication use.

  • Use the provided container only for disposing of pen needles, syringes, or lancets.

  • Do not throw sharps into household trash or recycling bins.
