What to do if I no longer need a system or container?
If you, as a patient or business, have a PureWay system or container on site and no longer need it, you have the following list:
Use the Prepaid Return Shipping Label
You can ship the system back at no cost using the prepaid return shipping label included with your system.Request a Replacement Shipping Box

Drop Off at a Shipping Office
If your system is fully packaged and sealed, with the return shipping label attached to the outer box flap at the number four position on top of the system, you can take it to the nearest shipping office for return.
How can I remove myself from the free sharps program?
To be removed from the Free Sharps Program, follow these steps:
Notify PureWay Support
Contact our support team to request removal at support@pureway.com or call 877.765.3030.
We will document your request in your customer record under General Notes to prevent any future orders or shipments.
A support case will also be created with your request details for internal tracking.
Contact Your Medication Brand
Reach out to your medication brand's patient support team to let them know you no longer want to receive free sharps containers.
This ensures you are removed directly from the brand’s enrollment system.
Manage Auto-Reorder (If Applicable)
If you are on an auto-reorder program, such as the Consentyx Program, our team will review the "With Customer" tab in the Manifest section of Connect Hub to identify any active manifests associated with you.
We will edit the manifest line item and uncheck the "Auto Reorder" box to stop future shipments.
What to Do If You Lost the Shipping Box for Your PureWay Sharps Container
If you have misplaced or lost the original shipping box for your PureWay sharps container, follow the steps below based on how you obtained your container:
If You Received Your Container Through a Free Program (e.g., in California)
Request a new sharps container through the same free program.
When your new container arrives, use the included box and return shipping label to send back your full container.
If You Are Not Part of a Free Program
Purchase a full sharps container system from PureWay.
Use the shipping box and label provided with the new system to return your full container.

What Happens to Your Returned Sharps System Waste?
Returned PureWay systems and their contents are treated according to state and federal regulations to ensure the waste is no longer hazardous. Depending on the facility, the waste is processed using an autoclave, incinerator, or alternative method, and may then be recycled or safely disposed of at a landfill. PureWay strives to use eco-friendly methods for transporting, treating, and recycling the waste.
Can I Request a Larger Container for My Medication Return?
No, it is not possible to request a larger container for a medication return.
The container size is determined based on the type and quantity of medication prescribed, and we can only provide containers that follow these guidelines.
If you need a larger container for personal use, you are welcome to purchase an additional sharps container directly from our website at PureWay.
Can I Place Sharps Inside a Collection Bin System?
Yes, you can place sharps inside a collection bin system.
Note:
You must first place the sharps in a secondary sharps container, such as a PureWay 1.2 gallon, 2 gallon, or 1.4 quart sharps collector.
Then, place this sealed container inside a larger collection bin system, such as our 18 gallon, 8 gallon, or 5 gallon bins.
Can I Resell My Sharps Container to a Friend?
We do not recommend donating, sharing, or reselling your unused containers.
Each container is assigned specifically to you and linked to your name and address in the system manifest. Sharing it with another patient could create privacy risks and, more importantly, compliance issues, since disposal traceability and liability remain under your name.

How Long Can I Keep My Sharps Container Before Returning It?
Some states have regulations that limit how long businesses and healthcare facilities can store sharps containers.
Michigan, all sharps waste must be disposed of every 90 days, whether the container is full or not.
Other states require disposal once the container reaches the fill line.

Does my insurance cover Sharps Disposal Systems?
No, most insurance plans do not cover the cost of sharps disposal systems. However, investing in a proper sharps disposal solution is highly recommended because it significantly reduces the risk of accidental needle sticks and ensures the safe and responsible handling of sharps in your home. This small investment can protect you, your family, and others from potential harm while helping maintain a safer living environment.
