When building automated messages in Pyn, you may want to include other stakeholders who need visibility into a communication, even if they are not the primary recipient or directly responsible for the employee or moment that triggered the message. Custom Email Recipients let you do exactly that.
With Custom Email Recipients, you can:
Add team inboxes (e.g.,
people@yourcompany.com,enablement@yourcompany.com)Include individuals who support a process (e.g., HRBPs, IT partners, operational leads)
Make sure the right stakeholders are looped in via Cc on automated messages
This is especially helpful in lifecycle automations like onboarding, promotions, transitions, or compliance notifications, where multiple teams might need awareness or action.
How to Add a Custom Email Recipient
Go to Settings → Custom Email Recipients
Click Add
Enter a Name and Email Address for the recipient
Verify the recipient (you’ll receive a verification email to confirm ownership)
Once verified, the recipient will be available to select within automation messages.
Include a Custom Recipient in a Flow
After adding and verifying a Custom Email Recipient:
Go to Flows, select the correct Flow, then open the specific workflow you want to edit
Make sure Email is selected as the delivery method
Choose your Sender and the primary Recipient
Scroll to the Cc field — this dropdown now includes:
The Employee’s Manager or Skip-level Manager
All Custom Email Recipients you’ve verified under Settings
Select one or more recipients to Cc
Tips & Best Practices
What happens if a Custom Email Recipient is deleted?
If you delete a custom recipient in Settings → Custom Email Recipients, any automations referencing that recipient will automatically remove them. You won’t need to manually adjust each message.
Can you add recipients outside the organization?
Yes, you can create a Custom Email Recipient with an external email address (e.g., an agency partner or vendor). They will not get access to Pyn itself, but they will receive the message as a Cc.
