Connecting Slack to Pyn lets you deliver messages directly in Slack, send Slack-based notifications, and target audiences using Slack channel and workspace data. This article walks through installing the integration.
Before you start
You must be a Pyn admin to install integrations.
You must have permission in Slack to authorize new apps for your workspace. If you don't, your Slack admin will need to approve the request.
Have the correct Slack workspace ready in your browser, the one you want Pyn to connect to.
Install Slack
In Pyn, go to Settings in the left sidebar.
Open Integrations, then click Available in the sub-navigation. (You can also click the Install button at the top right of the Installed view.)
Find the Slack tile and click it.
Click Connect. You'll be redirected to Slack to authorize the app.
In Slack, confirm the workspace shown in the top right is the one you want to connect. If not, switch workspaces before continuing.
Review the requested permissions and click Allow. Slack will redirect you back to Pyn.
You'll land back on the Integrations page. The Slack tile should now show a green Active status under Installed.
Confirm it's working
Click the Slack tile under Settings > Integrations > Installed to open the details panel. You should see:
Team Id: your Slack workspace identifier.
Requires Reauthentication: should be false right after install.
Last Refresh and Last Successful Refresh: recent timestamps confirm Pyn is syncing with Slack.
Troubleshooting
Slack appears under Needs Attention. Open the tile, click the menu, and choose Reauthenticate. You'll be sent back through the Slack authorization flow.
I was sent to a Slack admin approval screen. Your workspace requires admin approval for new apps. Submit the request from the screen, then ask a Slack admin to approve it. Once approved, return to Pyn and try installing again.
I connected the wrong workspace. Open the integration's details panel, use the menu to remove the integration, then reinstall and select the correct workspace in Slack.
