Whether composing an email or a direct message, Pyn 2 gives you a unified rich text editor to configure send settings, style copy, embed media, and insert interactive widgets.

The instructions below are for Pyn 2. If you are using Pyn 1 (Classic) click here

1. Understanding the Message Editor

When you click on any message step within a flow (e.g., Send Email or Send Direct Message), the editor panel opens on the right side of your canvas:

2. Text Formatting & Hierarchy

Highlight any section of your body copy or use the formatting bar beneath your text:

  • Text Styles: Bold (B), Italic (i), and Underline (U) to emphasize critical instructions.

  • Text Alignment: Left-align, center-align, or right-align blocks of copy.

  • Headings: Use H1 for primary headers and H3 for subsection callouts to make longer guides scannable.

  • Blockquotes (): Format important quotes, warnings, or leadership notes in an indented quote block.

  • Lists: Bulleted lists for bullet points and numbered lists for sequential tasks.

  • Hyperlinks (Link Icon): Highlight any text to turn it into a web link or a mailto: address.

  • Undo / Redo (Curved Arrows): Quickly revert or re-apply recent text edits.

3. Personalizing Content with Dynamic Tokens

Pyn 2 pulls live employee and manager data directly from your HRIS integration:

  • Use @ to open token autocomplete or insert token shortcuts:

    • @recipient.firstName / @recipient.preferredName: First name of the person reading the message.

    • @principal.firstName / @principal.preferredName: The individual the flow is running for (e.g., the new hire or newly promoted manager).

    • @principal.startDate: Start date of the employee.

    • @principal.managerName: Manager name of the principal.

    • @principal.buddy.preferredName: Name of the assigned onboarding buddy.

Note on Recipients vs. Principals: If a manager receives a message asking them to take an action for a new starter, @recipient resolves to the manager, while @principal resolves to the new hire.

4. Adding Visual Media (Local & Library)

Pyn 2 lets you add visual assets directly inside your message body without needing separate long/short page formats:

  1. Click the picture icon (Insert images and media) in the toolbar.

  2. Choose your image source:

    • Local: Click Upload from your computer to select a JPG, PNG, GIF, or MP4 file.

    • From Library: Select an image or banner already saved in your workspace Media Library.

  3. Click the inserted image to adjust alignment (left, center, right) or use the bounding handles to resize it

5. Interactive Widgets

Click the puzzle icon (Widgets) in the message toolbar to insert interactive components:

  • Link To Library Content:

    1. Select Link To Library Content from the widget dropdown.

    2. Search or select a guide from your Library (e.g., First-time Manager Guide, Holiday Information).

    3. Enter the button Label (e.g., "Read Guide"), select the Button Style, and check Track Action to measure employee engagement.

  • Embed Form: Embed forms like the Buddy Selection form directly into the message, allowing managers to select an employee from a live dropdown inside Slack.

6. Preview and Test

Before publishing your changes:

  1. Click the eye icon (Preview) on the right of the formatting bar.

  2. Under Preview as, select an employee profile to ensure dynamic tokens resolve accurately.

  3. Click Send a test to yourself to verify how the layout, fonts, and buttons render in your actual Slack, Teams, or email client.

  4. Click Publish in the top bar to save and apply the updates across the flow.
