How to Change the Server Time on Your Windows Server VPS

Follow these steps to manually adjust the server time on your Windows Server VPS.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Login to Your VPS

  • Use Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) to log into your VPS.

  • Enter your IP address, username, and password provided in your welcome email.

2. Open the Date and Time Settings

  • Press Start, then type Date and Time and press Enter.

  • Or go to:

    Control PanelClock and RegionDate and Time

3. Click “Change Date and Time”

  • Under the Date and Time tab, click the Change date and time… button.

  • If prompted for administrator permission, click Yes.

4. Adjust the Time and Date

  • Set the correct date and time.

  • Click OK to apply the changes.

5. (Optional) Change the Time Zone

  • Still under the Date and Time tab, click Change time zone…

  • Select the appropriate time zone for your trading or application needs.

  • Click OK to confirm.

6. Disable Internet Time Sync (Optional)

To prevent the time from resetting:

  • Go to the Internet Time tab.

  • Click Change settings…

  • Uncheck Synchronize with an Internet time server, then click OK.


Troubleshooting Tips

  • If the time resets after a reboot, ensure sync with the Windows Time service is disabled.

  • For latency-sensitive apps, verify time consistency with external tools (e.g., ping, net time).
