Setting Up API Keys for Integration
An API key is a unique identifier used to authenticate and authorize access to an external system.
To begin the integration process, request two API keys from the accountancy firm or umbrella company you are working with:
The firm’s master API key – a unique key identifying their system.
A company-specific API key – generated by them for your organisation’s use.
Once both keys have been provided, log in to Quartz, open the main menu, and go to MDA Integration → MDA Integration List to continue the setup.
This will bring you to the following screen here you can select 'Create Supplier Integration'
You will now see the MDA Integration List screen.
Select the supplier (typically the umbrella company) from the dropdown menu. This supplier must already exist in your MDT system.
Enter the API keys provided by the accountancy firm or umbrella company into the relevant fields.
API Key – The unique key assigned to the umbrella company.
Agency Key – The key generated specifically for your agency by the umbrella company.
Once both keys have been entered, click Save.
If successful, a confirmation message will appear on screen.
If you then go back to the main MDA Integration landing page, you will now see the API link you have created.
On the far right-hand side of the MDA Integration List screen, you will see a set of action buttons. Below is an explanation of each button and its function:
Action Button 1 | Action Button 2 | Action Button 3 |
This black pencil is an edit button. Here you can edit the details you have input for the API Keys or change the supplier. | This option is if you wish to make the API inactive, to do so click on the action button, a pop-up will ask if you are sure, if you are, click yes, and this API will then turn to inactive meaning it will no longer work. | This cog is for setting your defaults as to how you want the data you are sending, to be categorised. This is covered in separate articles named "setting your defaults" |
