QuoteIQ supports consumer financing through Klarna, Afterpay (branded "Cash App Afterpay" in the US, "Clearpay" in the UK), and Affirm — all powered through Stripe. When you turn these on, your customers see Buy Now, Pay Later options at checkout when they go to pay an invoice. They split the payment into installments, you get paid in full upfront, and Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm handles the collection.
Why this matters: Higher invoice approval rates, larger average ticket sizes, and a close-the-deal option for high-ticket jobs (HVAC, roofing, remodeling, ceramic coating, big landscape jobs). Until now this was one of the only things some competitors had over QuoteIQ. Now you have it too — three providers, at zero additional subscription cost.
Available on: All QuoteIQ plans — Essentials, Beginner, Pro, Elite, and Max, including the 14-day free trial.
What you pay extra: Nothing on your QuoteIQ subscription. Stripe charges its standard BNPL transaction fees (typically a few percentage points per transaction — see Stripe's pricing page for current rates). Some accounts qualify for a promotional 2.9% + 30¢ rate on Klarna and Affirm for at least the first month — check your Stripe Dashboard.
📦 The short version
Klarna — the most flexible: Pay in 4, Pay in 30 days, and long-term financing. Works with recurring invoices.
Afterpay — Pay in 4 plus 6/12-month plans (US). One-time invoices only.
Affirm — built for your biggest jobs: financing up to $30,000 and terms up to 36 months (US & Canada). One-time invoices only.
Turn on all three — your customer picks whichever they prefer at checkout.
Quick Setup — All Three Live in 2 Minutes
Sign in to your Stripe Dashboard.
Go to Settings → Payment methods.
Scroll down to the Buy now, pay later section.
Toggle Klarna on. Toggle Afterpay / Clearpay on (in the US this is branded "Cash App Afterpay" — same toggle). Toggle Affirm on.
That's it. All three start appearing as payment options on eligible customer invoices the next time someone goes to pay.
No code, no integration, no separate account to set up. The full Stripe + QuoteIQ pipeline already runs through your existing Stripe connection — turning on Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm just adds them as payment methods customers can select. Stripe's dynamic payment methods system decides which to show each customer automatically based on their country and the invoice amount.
How Klarna Works for Your Customer
When a customer opens an invoice and clicks Pay, they'll see Klarna as an option alongside credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. After choosing Klarna, they're redirected to Klarna's secure flow to confirm. Once approved, the invoice is marked paid in QuoteIQ.
Customer payment options through Klarna (varies by country and order amount):
Pay in 4 — 4 interest-free installments paid every 2 weeks.
Pay in 30 days — Defer the full payment for 30 days, no interest.
Financing 6–24 months — Longer-term monthly installments with capped interest. Best for high-ticket jobs.
US contractors: The 6–24 month financing tier is not enabled by default after you toggle Klarna on. To unlock it, contact Stripe Support from inside your Stripe Dashboard after activation and request that they enable the financing tier on your account. The "Pay in 4" and "Pay in 30 days" options work immediately.
Customer countries supported: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, plus most of the EU.
You get paid: Full invoice amount, upfront, deposited to your Stripe account on your normal payout schedule.
Refunds: You can refund Klarna invoices up to 180 days after the original payment, the same way you'd refund any Stripe invoice.
How Afterpay (Cash App Afterpay) Works for Your Customer
In the US Afterpay shows as "Cash App Afterpay." In the UK it shows as "Clearpay." Same Stripe toggle, regional branding handled automatically.
When a customer chooses Afterpay at checkout, they're redirected to Afterpay's site to authorize the installment plan, then returned to QuoteIQ. Like Klarna, you receive the full invoice amount upfront and Afterpay handles collection from the customer.
Customer payment options through Afterpay:
Pay in 4 — 4 interest-free bi-weekly installments over 6 weeks. The customer pays the first installment immediately and the remaining 3 every 2 weeks.
Monthly installments — US only — 6 or 12 month installment plans with capped interest. Useful for larger jobs where Pay in 4 doesn't fit the customer's budget.
Customer countries supported: United States, United Kingdom (as Clearpay), Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
Important Afterpay limitations:
One-time invoices only — Afterpay does not work with QuoteIQ recurring invoice subscriptions. For recurring service plans, Klarna or credit card is the way to go.
Domestic transactions only — The customer must be in the same country as your Stripe account. A US contractor cannot accept Afterpay from a Canadian customer (or vice versa).
You get paid: Full invoice amount, upfront, deposited to your Stripe account on your normal payout schedule. Afterpay absorbs all losses from customer fraud or non-payment.
Refunds: You can refund Afterpay invoices up to 180 days after the original payment.
How Affirm Works for Your Customer
Affirm is the third BNPL option you can offer, and it's built for your biggest-ticket jobs — financing up to $30,000 with terms up to 36 months. When a customer chooses Affirm at checkout, they're redirected to Affirm's site to pick a plan and authorize it, then returned to QuoteIQ. As with Klarna and Afterpay, you receive the full invoice amount upfront and Affirm collects from the customer over time.
Customer payment options through Affirm (Affirm decides which to show based on cart size, the customer's credit, and account history):
Pay in 4 — 4 interest-free payments every 2 weeks.
Monthly installments — longer-term plans up to 36 months, ideal for large jobs. Unlike Pay in 4, longer Affirm terms may carry interest — Affirm sets the APR (typically 10–36%) at checkout based on the customer, who sees the exact terms and any interest before agreeing.
Customer countries supported: United States and Canada.
Important Affirm limitations:
One-time invoices only — like Afterpay, Affirm does not work with QuoteIQ recurring invoice subscriptions.
Domestic transactions only — the customer must be in the same country as your Stripe account (US or Canada).
Higher decline rate — Affirm runs a real-time credit decision, so keep card payment available as a fallback (it already is by default). For very large purchases near the $30,000 ceiling, Affirm may ask the customer for a down payment.
You get paid: Full invoice amount, upfront, deposited to your Stripe account on your normal payout schedule. Affirm absorbs losses from customer credit or fraud risk.
Refunds: Affirm payments can be refunded through your Stripe Dashboard like any other Stripe payment.
Klarna vs. Afterpay vs. Affirm — Which Should I Turn On?
Turn on all three. They're free to enable, and your customer chooses which they prefer at checkout. Different customers prefer different brands — some only have Klarna, others Cash App Afterpay, others Affirm. Offering all three maximizes the chance the customer uses BNPL instead of abandoning the invoice.

When This Wins You More Jobs
Consumer financing has the biggest impact on:
High-ticket jobs — HVAC system replacements, roofing, exterior remodeling, full landscape installs, ceramic coating packages, paint protection film. Customers who would balk at a $5,000 invoice often happily commit to $1,250 every 2 weeks — or spread a $15,000 job over 36 months with Affirm.
Unexpected repairs — Emergency plumbing, water damage, HVAC failure. Customer needs the work but didn't budget for it. BNPL closes the deal.
Seasonal services — Holiday lighting, big spring cleanups, pre-event pressure washing. Spread the cost over 6 weeks instead of taking it on the chin all at once.
Mention BNPL availability in your estimate templates and at the close — "We offer Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm if you'd like to split this into payments" is one of the highest-impact closing lines you can add.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does turning on Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm cost me anything extra on my QuoteIQ subscription?
Does turning on Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm cost me anything extra on my QuoteIQ subscription?
No. There is no additional QuoteIQ subscription cost. Stripe handles the BNPL transaction directly and charges its standard transaction fee (a small percentage per BNPL payment, usually a few points higher than a credit card transaction). Check Stripe's pricing page for the current rate in your region.
Do my customers have to create a Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm account?
Do my customers have to create a Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm account?
They go through the provider's flow at checkout, which involves a quick approval and authentication. Many customers already have a Klarna, Cash App Afterpay, or Affirm account from previous purchases. Either way it's just a few taps before they're back to your QuoteIQ invoice. Affirm runs a quick real-time credit check as part of its approval.
What if my customer doesn't pay the BNPL provider back?
What if my customer doesn't pay the BNPL provider back?
Not your problem. You already have your money. Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm each take on the full collection risk and absorb losses from fraud or non-payment. You get paid in full upfront when the customer chooses BNPL, and the provider handles everything else.
Can I refund a Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm payment?
Can I refund a Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm payment?
Yes. All three support refunds processed the same way you'd refund any other Stripe payment from inside your Stripe Dashboard. Klarna and Afterpay support refunds up to 180 days after the original payment.
Does Affirm charge my customer interest?
Does Affirm charge my customer interest?
Affirm's Pay in 4 is interest-free. Affirm's longer monthly installment plans (up to 36 months) may carry interest — Affirm sets the APR (typically 10–36%) based on the customer's eligibility and the cart amount. The customer always sees the exact payment plan, including any interest, before they agree to it. You're paid the full amount upfront either way; the interest is between Affirm and the customer.
When should I offer Affirm versus Klarna or Afterpay?
When should I offer Affirm versus Klarna or Afterpay?
You don't have to choose — turn on all three and let the customer pick. As a rule of thumb: Klarna and Afterpay shine for smaller "Pay in 4" splits and Klarna also covers recurring plans; Affirm shines on your largest jobs, with financing up to $30,000 and terms up to 36 months. For a big HVAC, roofing, or remodel invoice, Affirm is often the one that closes it.
Will the BNPL options show up on every invoice automatically?
Will the BNPL options show up on every invoice automatically?
They show up on eligible invoices for eligible customers. Eligibility depends on the order amount, the customer's country, and each provider's own approval rules. Stripe's dynamic payment methods system handles all of this automatically — you don't have to configure anything per invoice.
Why is the 6–24 month Klarna financing not showing up for my US customers?
Why is the 6–24 month Klarna financing not showing up for my US customers?
For US-based contractor accounts, the long-term Klarna financing tier is not enabled by default when you toggle Klarna on. The "Pay in 4" and "Pay in 30 days" options work immediately. To unlock the 6–24 month financing tier, contact Stripe Support from inside your Stripe Dashboard and ask them to enable it on your account. They'll review and turn it on, usually within a few business days.
Can I use Afterpay or Affirm for recurring service plan invoices?
Can I use Afterpay or Affirm for recurring service plan invoices?
No. Both Afterpay and Affirm only support one-time invoice payments. For recurring/subscription invoices in QuoteIQ, customers can pay with credit card, ACH, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Klarna — but not Afterpay or Affirm. This is a provider limitation, not a QuoteIQ one.
Can my customer in another country pay my invoice with these?
Can my customer in another country pay my invoice with these?
Afterpay and Affirm are domestic-only — the customer must be in the same country as your Stripe account (Affirm is US and Canada). Klarna has slightly broader cross-border support but is also region-restricted. For most home service businesses this won't matter (you and your customer are in the same country anyway).
Which plans support Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm?
Which plans support Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm?
All QuoteIQ plans — Essentials ($29.99/mo), Beginner ($74.99/mo), Pro ($149.99/mo), Elite ($299/mo), and Max ($699/mo). Consumer financing is available on every tier from day one, including the 14-day free trial.
Does QuoteIQ get a cut of these transactions?
Does QuoteIQ get a cut of these transactions?
No. The BNPL transaction goes directly between your customer, Stripe, and the provider (Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm). QuoteIQ doesn't take a cut.
