How do I leave a voicemail with one click?

When you reach someone's voicemail during a call session, you can play a pre-recorded message instead of speaking live. After you play a recording once during a session, you can play the same one again on the next call with a single click.

Before you start: record a voicemail template

You play pre-recorded voicemails, so you need at least one recording saved first.

  1. In the left navigation, open Templates, then click Voicemail. This takes you to the Voicemail templates page.

  2. At the top, enter your phone number in the box.

  3. Click Call me to record.

  4. Answer your phone and record your message after the beep.

  5. Hang up. Your recording shows up in the list a couple of seconds later.

A recording can be up to 10 minutes long. You can save more than one template and choose which one to play during a call.

Play a voicemail during a call

The voicemail button only works while you are dialed into a call session and connected on an outbound call. If you are not dialed in or not on a call, the button stays disabled.

  1. Start your call session and dial a contact as usual.

  2. When you reach their voicemail, find the Drop VM button in the call controls on the contact profile.

  3. Click Drop VM.

  4. A window titled Drop Voicemail Recording opens with a list of your recordings.

  5. Select the recording you want to play.

The recording plays into the call. The contact's outcome for the call is set to Left Voicemail automatically, and you can move on to the next person.

The one-click part: playing the same voicemail again

After you play a voicemail once during a session, the button remembers your last choice.

  • The button label changes to Drop Same VM. Clicking it plays the same recording you used last time, with no window to pick from. That is the one-click drop.

  • A small arrow button appears next to it. Click the arrow to reopen the Drop Voicemail Recording window and pick a different recording.

This memory lasts for the current call session. If you reload the page or start a new session, the button returns to Drop VM and asks you to pick a recording again.

If you have no recordings yet

If you open the Drop Voicemail Recording window before you have recorded anything, you will see "You haven't recorded any voicemails templates yet" with a link to get started. Follow that link to the Voicemail templates page and record one first.

Notes

  • The outcome logged for a played voicemail is Left Voicemail.

  • Playing a voicemail moves the live call over to your recording, so it is meant for the moment you reach an answering machine, not for sending a message outside of a call.

  • This works on sessions whose phone provider supports voice calls. If a session's provider does not support voice, the play attempt is rejected.
