The Usage page shows two views: Summary and Detail. The numbers in these views can differ because Summary applies free-tier credits before computing your costs, while Detail shows counts and costs before any credits are applied.
What "raw usage" means
Raw usage is every SMS segment sent, every MMS sent, every email sent, and every call logged, counted without deductions. The Detail view shows raw usage broken down by month and, for accounts that roll up under a parent billing organization, by source account.
The Detail view includes columns such as raw_sms_cost, raw_mms_cost, raw_texting_cost, raw_email_cost, and raw_call_cost. These are the amounts you would owe if no free-tier credits existed.
What "billable usage" means
Billable usage is what remains after your plan's included allowances are subtracted.
Your account has a campaign type that determines two monthly allowances:
Included calls — a number of calls that are not charged.
Included texting credit — a dollar amount applied against your combined SMS-segment and MMS charges.
Calls above the included amount and texting costs above the credit are what you actually owe. Emails have no included allowance; every outgoing email counts toward billable usage.
The Summary view shows these post-credit figures: billable_calls, billable_emails, texting_cost, email_cost, call_cost, and total_cost.
How SMS and MMS are counted differently
SMS messages are counted by segment. A single SMS can be more than one segment if the message body is long. Each segment is counted separately for billing purposes.
MMS messages (picture messages or messages with media attachments) are billed per message, not per segment.
The free texting credit is applied to the combined dollar value of your SMS-segment charges and MMS charges together, not to a raw count of messages.
How to read the two views
Summary (one row per month): totals across all source accounts, with free-tier credits applied. Use this to see what you will be billed.
Detail (one row per month per source account): raw counts and raw costs before credits. Use this to see where usage is coming from when you have multiple accounts rolled up together.
Why numbers refresh on a delay
Usage figures are calculated from a snapshot that refreshes once daily. Activity from the current day may not appear until the next refresh. If you recently sent a large campaign, the totals will reflect it by the following day.
