How do I remove people from a list in bulk?

The answer depends on whether your list is static or dynamic.

Static lists

A static list stores a fixed set of contacts. You can remove one contact at a time from a static list, but there is no bulk-remove action from the list view itself.

To remove one contact from a static list:

  1. Open the contact's profile page.

  2. Scroll to the Lists section in the sidebar.

  3. Click the three-dot menu icon next to the list name.

  4. Click "Remove" in the menu that appears.

Repeat for each contact you want to remove.

If you need to remove many contacts at once, the fastest approach is to recreate the list with a tighter filter:

  1. Open the list.

  2. Use the filter bar to narrow the view to the contacts you want to keep.

  3. Save a new static list from that filtered result.

  4. Archive the old list.

Dynamic lists

A dynamic list has no fixed membership. It re-runs a saved filter every time it loads. Contacts appear or disappear based on whether they match the filter, not because they were manually added or removed.

To exclude specific contacts from a dynamic list, update the filter:

  1. Open the list.

  2. Edit the filter to add a condition that excludes the contacts you want removed (for example, exclude by tag, by zip code, or by name).

  3. Save the updated filter.

Anyone who no longer matches the filter will stop appearing in the list.

Checking whether a list is static or dynamic

On the Lists page, static lists show a fixed contact count. Dynamic lists show a count that updates as the underlying data changes. You can also open the list and look at the filter panel: a dynamic list has an active filter; a static list shows the filter that was used to create it but membership is fixed.
