When would a review get rejected?

Sometimes a review from your client will not get posted. This article explains why.

In some cases we may not publish a review on RateMyAgent. A review might get rejected because of one of the following.

  • containing inappropriate language

  • completely unrelated to an agent's professional practice

  • submitted by a competitor or related person

  • submitted by a person found to have had no professional dealings with the agent

  • submitted by someone who did not sell or buy/ tenant or rent the property or is action on such person's behalf.

You may be asking can I have a โ€œbadโ€ review removed?

The answer is unlikely. If the review is from a genuine client and doesnโ€™t breach our policies it will stay on your profile. We have policies to follow and we are bound by consumer law so we CANNOT remove reviews unless for the reasons listed above.

At the end of the day...

Keep letting those reviews come in. Consumers find your reviews highly valuable when selecting a real estate agent. Donโ€™t sweat the small stuff, an occasional sub-five-star review is more than okay, nobody is perfect and all the more reason to aim for the stars next time. Instead, take the time to reply to your clients leaving a professional, articulate response. This may help your next client select you. Before you know it, you will have a full profile of reviews out in the world.

We are available to clarify any questions on your reviews, contact support by clicking the chat feature in the bottom right corner.

What if my client wishes to be anonymous on a review?

Your client does not need to have their name displayed on our website

Some clients wish to submit an anonymous review, which is okay.

Keep in mind that when they leave the review, it will display that they are the buyer or vendor of a specific property so they will not be 100% anonymous.

When leaving their review, they can create a username, their username is the only detail of theirs that will be displayed on our website.
Underneath there is a box to select whether they would like to submit their review as anonymous. If they select anonymous, their review will say that it was submitted by anonymous and the username will not be displayed.

Please note: if client has not selected to be anonymous but wishes to be after the review is posted, they can login using their details that they created at the completion of the review submission and change their username to anonymous.

If the client did not create a login when they submitted their review, they will need to contact our Support team to change their user to anonymous. They should look for the icon in the bottom right corner and chat live to our team.

What if my client is struggling to leave a review?

Some situations may arise where your client has trouble leaving you a review. Perhaps they're not too tech-savvy or they have accidentally unsubscribed from our emails.

In this case, you can ask your client to email us directly at support@ratemyagent.com (AU/NZ) or help@ratemyagent.com (US). This email must come from the same email address that the initial review request was sent to as well as the following information:

Make sure to include the following:

  • The agent they are reviewing

  • The listing involved in the transaction

  • Their review along with the star rating (from 1-5 with 5 = highly recommended and 1 = not recommended at all)

  • How did the final purchase price of the property compare to your expectations?

    The available responses are:

    • Better than expected

    • In line with expectations

    • Worse than expected

Reviews will only be accepted if they are sent from the same email address that the original request was sent to.

If you are receiving an error message when sending a review request or trying to get your review verified, this means you have already sent a request for this property to this email address.
