Issues Publishing?
Updated over 10 months ago

Publishing the magazine should take mere minutes. If you do have an issue, here are some things we've helped users solve:

"Not all my photos are showing."

This could be a couple things:

APP PERMISSIONS

The Recently app wasn't given permission to access the iPhones' photos.

  1. Go to the iPhone's settings app.

  2. Scroll down until you see the Recently app icon.

  3. Select Read and Write under Photos.

LOW RES PHOTOS

Recently is programmed to omit really small files (500 px) because they won't print well. Usually those are ultra compressed from the web or from a text. Last thing we want is pixelated print outs in a magazine. Otherwise all photos present on the phone should be showing up.

  1. Photos taken on a DSLR, and transferred to an iPhone might be too large (files sizes can exceed 10-20MB) for the app to handle.

  2. If using DSLR photos, best to size them down to standard iPhone photo sizes prior to using Recently.

  3. Somewhere between 3000px x 3000px to 2000px x 2000px will work well.

"I got a PDF failed to download image error"

  1. Sounds like the app is having a hard time reaching one of your photos, which sometimes happens if it's not fully downloaded from iCloud.

    1. Do any appear blurry/low-rez? If so, please either....

      1. omit that photo from the magazine's selected photos.

      2. or open that photo it up in Apple's Photos and see if you can get it to completely download.

    2. Or you might need to accept the latest iCloud terms of service which can be done under your phone's settings settings/iCloud/

"My photos look cropped. What's up?"

Don't worry - we don't crop the photos you upload. What you shot is what we print!

In the app, we show a square grid of photos, so that you may see what photos will appear on the pages of the magazines. These are just thumbnails, not representative of what's being printed. This is exactly like Apple's Photo's app shows photos.

The full photos will be printed on the pages.
