Soft Credits

Updated over 7 months ago

Soft credits are a way to give credit to a member who was not the donor but was involved in the donation. This is useful when a donation is made by one member, but another member should be recognized for it.

For example, if a donation is made by a company, but an individual employee should be recognized for the donation, you can create a soft credit for the employee.

Soft credits have no financial impact, they are used only for recognition purposes.

Adding Soft Credits

To add a soft credit to a donation, navigate to the donation page and click the "Add Soft Credit" button. Then, search for the member you would like to give credit for the donation and select them from the list of results. You can then choose to make the soft credit a fixed amount or a percentage of the donation. (Note: the soft credit amount is not limited by the donation amount, so you can give more credit than the donation amount if you wish.)

In the "Soft Credits" section of a donation page, you can see a list of all the soft credits that have been added to the donation. From here you can also edit or delete soft credits.

Front End

In the "Donations" tab of a member's profile, you will see the member's soft credits listed along with their pledges and donations. The line items for soft credits are grayed out to help clarify that they are not actual monetary transactions. You can click "Soft Credit" in the "Amount Pledged" to view the donation the soft credit is associated with.
