Getting your music picked by Spotify’s music experts to be included on editorial playlists is a powerful way to promote your music on Spotify. But first, you must submit your music to Spotify’s curation teams for consideration. If your music is picked it will also be added to your followers’ Release Radar playlists. And good to know, if your music is not picked right away, it may still be discovered later.
Some things to keep in mind
You can submit tracks with no streams or unreleased and upcoming tracks
Get your music in early to give Spotify’s editors a chance to listen
Submitting a track doesn’t guarantee a playlist placement, but gives it the best chance
You can submit one track per artist profile at a time
If a track has both an explicit and clean version, both versions are submitted. The editors will choose the most appropriate for the playlist.
You can’t submit compilations
You can’t submit if you’re a featured artist on the song
Spotify’s editors may choose to feature a different track from your release on their playlist
There’s no set amount of time a track will stay on the playlist - it depends on how well it resonates with listeners. You can’t remove yourself from a playlist.
Anyone with Admin or Edit access to your profile or release can see and edit the submission
It’s totally free to use and external parties can’t influence our editors
High production value is one of many important factors for playlist consideration
Keep your Spotify artist page up to date with relevant info
How can I pitch via Spotify for Artists?
Log in to Spotify for Artists on desktop
Use either of these ways to find and submit unreleased music
At the top of the Home tab, select SUBMIT FROM NEXT RELEASE
In the Music tab, under UPCOMING, select SUBMIT A SONG next to the relevant release.
Choose a song and fill out the info. The more info Spotify gets, the better chance it has.
How will I know if a song gets on a playlist?
Spotify will send an email to let you know. You can also check the Playlists tab in Spotify for Artists when your release goes live, and explore detailed stats about it.
Can I edit or change my submission for playlist consideration?
You can make changes or updates to your track submission right up to release day. Bear in mind, there’s no guarantee an editor will see your changes.
To increase your chances of getting playlisted, add the "Pitch Priority" add on when you upload your release. Doing this gets your release automatically in our pitch shortlist.
