When browsing TikTok, you might notice that some videos use unique sounds uploaded by users, which can include snippets of music not sourced from TikTok's official music catalogue. These are known as "Original Sounds." You can identify whether a video is using an Original Sound by clicking on the sound icon located at the bottom left corner of the video.

If you discover that your music is being used in an Original Sound, you may claim this sound and associate it with your official music releases. Here’s how you can proceed:

  1. Locate the Sound: Click on the sound icon at the bottom left of the video where your music is used. This will take you to a page dedicated to that specific sound.

  2. Gather Necessary Details: While on the sound's page, tap the share icon to copy the link. Also, make a note of the exact time range where your music is heard within the sound (e.g., 0:30-0:38). This information is crucial for processing your claim.

  3. Submit Your Claim: If you're confident that your music meets the criteria, you can initiate the claim process by contacting our support team. Provide us with the link to the sound, the time range of your music within the sound, and any other relevant details.

You must also keep in mind that claiming an Original Sound does not automatically link the sound or your music to your TikTok artist profile. If you want to link your releases to your TikTok profile, please follow the separate process outlined here.

By following these steps, you can take control of how your music is used on TikTok, ensuring proper attribution and potentially driving more listeners to your official releases.
