Camera software beta program

Learn what the camera software beta program is, how to join it, how to switch between beta and public releases, and how to understand your camera's update status.

Written by Team Reeplayer

Available in the Reeplayer app version 3.3.4 and later. Joining the beta and switching software versions is available to camera admins.

What is the beta program?

The beta program gives camera admins early access to pre-release camera software before it rolls out to everyone. It's a way to try new features sooner and help us make them better with your feedback.

Because beta builds are pre-release, they may be less stable than the public release. You can switch your camera back to the latest public release at any time.

What does "Alpha" mean?

You may also see some features or camera modes labeled Alpha. Alpha is an even earlier stage than beta — these are experimental and still being actively built, so they can change, look unfinished, or be less reliable. Feel free to try them if you're curious, but expect rough edges and share what you find. Anything not marked Beta or Alpha is part of the stable public release.

How to join the beta program

  1. Open the Reeplayer app and go to your camera.

  2. Open Camera software.

  3. Tap Join the beta program.

  4. Read the pre-release notice, then confirm to join.

Once you've joined, beta versions appear alongside public releases in your camera's available versions list, marked with a Beta label.

Understanding your camera's software version

On the camera software screen you can see:

  • Your camera's current version, and whether it's a Beta build or a public release.

  • Update available — a newer version is ready to install for better performance.

  • Update required — you'll need to install the listed version to keep recording and streaming.

  • A no-update state when your camera is already on the newest version for its track.

Switching versions

  • Update to a newer beta: when a newer beta is available, tap Update now and follow the prompts.

  • Switch back to the public release: select the latest public version from the versions list and confirm. Your camera updates to that build.

Updates install over Wi-Fi. Keep your camera powered on and connected until the update finishes.

Good to know

  • Beta builds can change frequently and may be less stable than public releases.

  • You can leave a beta and return to the public release at any time. Your footage and settings aren't affected.

  • Share feedback on anything you hit in a beta or alpha by replying to us in the app — it directly shapes the final release.
