Add a caption with Quick Caption

Add a short caption to each photo right after you take it, by typing or just talking. Captions save automatically.

Written by Rhet Porter

Quick Caption lets you describe a photo while it's still fresh. After each photo, a small caption box pops up. Type a note or tap the microphone and say it out loud, and RelayCam saves it with the photo.

Good to know: Quick Caption is on by default, and it works in Photo mode.

Add a caption after you take a photo

  1. Open the camera on a project and take a photo.

  2. A caption box appears above the zoom controls, with the photo's thumbnail and Add a caption.

  3. To talk, tap the microphone. The box shows Listening while it hears you. Tap Done when you're finished, or Cancel to stop without saving.

  4. To type instead, tap the keyboard icon while listening, or tap the caption box.

  5. Your caption saves on its own. You can keep shooting, or tap the X to close the box now.

Captions can be up to 200 characters. If you don't touch the box, it closes and saves by itself after a few seconds.

Turn Quick Caption on or off

In the camera, tap the document icon on the right side. It's green when Quick Caption is on and white when it's off. RelayCam remembers your choice. The icon isn't available while you're recording a video.

Where your caption shows up

The caption is saved as the photo's description. Open the photo and you'll see it at the bottom. To change it later, tap it, or tap Add description if the photo doesn't have one yet.

Add or edit a description on the web

On the web, you add a description after a photo is uploaded.

  1. Open the photo.

  2. In the panel beside the photo, click the Description section and type your note. The placeholder says Add a description...

  3. Click anywhere outside the box. Your description saves automatically.

Descriptions help your reports. RelayCam's AI uses photo descriptions, comments, and tags when it writes Daily Logs and Project Updates, so the more context your team adds, the better they read.
