New and Improved: Claiming Your Charity Portal

How to verify your identity and access your organization's Ren for Charities portal as an officer.

Overview

Ren for Charities now offers a new way for charity officers to access the charity portal quickly and securely — without waiting to receive a grant. The Identity Verification pathway is our recommended option and provides near-instant access once you're verified.

Once you're in, you can:

  • Access your charity's portal almost immediately

  • Invite other staff members from your organization to join

  • Manage incoming donations and grants

Who Can Use This?

This process is available to charity officers — individuals listed as officers of your organization (such as CEO, Executive Director, President, or Treasurer).

Not seeing your name? If you're not listed as an officer, you may not be eligible for this pathway. Contact our support team and we'll help you find an alternative route.

What You'll Need

  • A government-issued photo ID (e.g. driver's license or passport)

  • A mobile device with a camera

  • A valid email address

Step-by-Step

Step 1: Go to the Charity Portal

Visit charities.rengiving.com, search for your charity, and select Claim to begin.

Step 2: Select Identity Verification

You'll be presented with several access options. Select Identity Verification — this is the fastest path to accessing your portal.

Step 3: Confirm Your Officer Listing

You'll see a listing of officers from your organization. Names are displayed with only the first name and a masked last name. Locate and select your name to continue.

Step 4: Enter Your Name and Email

Enter your name and a valid email address.

Important: Double-check your email address — this is where your portal invitation will be sent.

Your information will be checked against our first validation layer. If it passes, you'll move on to an additional third-party identity verification. If there isn't a strong enough match, you won't be able to continue with this pathway.

Step 5: Complete Identity Verification

You'll be directed to a secure third-party identity verification process — similar to identity checks used by many online services. During this step you will:

  1. Consent to the verification process

  2. Scan a QR code to continue on your mobile device

  3. Scan your government-issued photo ID using your phone's camera

Step 6: Receive Your Result

After completing verification, you'll typically get a quick result. If you pass, you'll receive an email invitation at the address you provided.

If the process takes longer than expected, you'll only receive an email if your verification is successful.

Step 7: Accept Your Invitation and Register

Follow the link in your invitation email to complete registration and access your organization's portal.

If Verification Is Unsuccessful

If we're unable to verify your identity, you won't receive an invitation email. For security reasons, we're not able to share details about why a verification may have been unsuccessful.

If you believe you should have access and didn't receive an invitation, please contact our support team — we're happy to help you through an alternative pathway.

Inviting Others From Your Organization

Once you're in the portal, you can invite other staff members to join. You don't need every team member to go through identity verification individually — you can manage access from within the portal.
