Getting Started

  1. Visit the Site:
Go to charities.rengiving.com, search for your charity, select the correct organization, and click the ‘Claim’ button.

  2. Claiming Your Charity:

    • Address Verification: A postcard with instructions will be mailed to your charity’s IRS address.

    • Telephone Verification: A phone call with an authorization code will be sent to the phone number on your organization’s 990 form; access is granted immediately.

    • Officer Identity Verification: A proven officer of the organization can verify their identity and gain access quickly.

    • Via Grant Check: If you’ve received a grant, your check includes onboarding instructions and a registration code to sign in to the Charity Portal.

Register by Claiming

To begin, charities can go to https://charities.rengiving.com and search for the correct organization.

  1. Select ‘Claim’:
Choose either Address, Telephone, or Identity verification.

  2. Complete Verification:

    1. Address Verification: Confirm the recipient and zip code of the letter.

    2. Telephone Verification: Ensure your organization e-filed its last 990, a phone number is on file, and you have access to it.

    3. Identity Verification: Complete full identity verification through our partner Stripe and receive an onboarding invitation.

  3. Update Information:
If needed, update your address with the IRS before claiming.

Address Verification:

You will be asked to confirm who we are sending the letter to and the zip code for your organization's IRS filed address.

If the ‘Claim’ has a checkmark and says ‘Claimed’, this means that someone else has already attempted a claim in the past 3 weeks.

Once you claim your Charity Page, a pop-up will occur explaining a postcard will be sent helping us securely verify your organization.

Please note that the postcard can take up to 2 weeks to arrive via standard USPS mail. Here is an example of what the postcard will look like:

Telephone Verification:

To verify via telephone three circumstances need to be true:

  1. your organization e-filed their last 990

  2. a phone number was provided on that most recent 990 filing (not a required field)

  3. you have access to the phone number used in the filing

If any of these are not true, you will receive an error message when attempting the telephone verification process.

The prompt will ask you to confirm the phone number that is listed in your organization's 990 filings with the IRS. It will show you the last 4 digits to assist if your organization has multiple affiliated phone numbers.

The call will state it has a verification code for Ren for Charities and request you press a number to confirm hearing the confirmation code. It will then list off the verification code for you slowly.

Enter the information into the code box and select 'Submit' when done.

When successful follow the link to onboard now.

Identity Verification:

Select Identity Verification — this is the fastest path to accessing your portal.

You'll see a listing of officers from your organization. Names are displayed with only the first name and a masked last name. Locate and select your name to continue.

Enter your name and a valid email address.

Important: Double-check your email address — this is where your portal invitation will be sent.

Your information will be checked against our first validation layer. If it passes, you'll move on to an additional third-party identity verification. If there isn't a strong enough match, you won't be able to continue with this pathway.

You'll be directed to a secure third-party identity verification process — similar to identity checks used by many online services. During this step you will:

  1. Consent to the verification process

  2. Scan a QR code to continue on your mobile device

  3. Scan your government-issued photo ID using your phone's camera

After completing verification, you'll typically get a quick result. If you pass, you'll receive an email invitation at the address you provided.

If the process takes longer than expected, you'll only receive an email if your verification is successful.

If Verification Is Unsuccessful

If we're unable to verify your identity, you won't receive an invitation email. For security reasons, we're not able to share details about why a verification may have been unsuccessful.

If you believe you should have access and didn't receive an invitation, please contact our support team — we're happy to help you through an alternative pathway.
