Integrity is at the core of what we do.
When reviews are submitted to RMA, we have an automated process within our system to check the review, client information and other details relevant to the review submission.
Reviews might also experience delays owing to the moderation and verification stages, which are essential to ensuring the authenticity and compliance of every review submitted.
We conduct rigorous ongoing checks on all reviews, using multi-stage verification to analyze submission data and behavioral patterns for potential anomalies. Some reviews are picked up before ever going live onto the website, others are escalated upon submission for further inspection by our internal team. Due to the ongoing nature of our verification checks, reviews may go live but can be removed at a later date if picked up by the system.
Reviews undergoing moderation may take time before being published, as they need to pass strict verification protocols to appear on the platform.
In 2024 alone, we collected 199,889 reviews in Australia, with 1.58% removed after failing integrity checks.
All reviews on RateMyAgent must:
Be left by the vendor (seller), buyer, tenant, or landlord of the property, or a person authorised to do so on their behalf.
Be associated with a successful transaction
Be filled out away from the office location and cannot be submitted on an agency device.
Be left or verified via Import by an email address that was made by and belongs to the client. If submitted via SMS, phone number must belong to the the reviewer.
All reviews must be given voluntarily and cannot be given in exchange for money or gifts.
Be based on the client's account of their experience with the particular agent relative to the transaction for which the review has been submitted (or agency for property management reviews).
In the event that an agent is the buyer or seller of a property, a review can be left by a personal email address and away from the agency location.
Where possible, a co-owner should review the agents involved in the sale.
Although reviews may meet the above points, if they are picked up during our integrity checks for other reasons, they will be removed. This ongoing process ensures we can be confident that only genuine, verified feedback appears on our platform - so you can trust the reviews you read.
When a review is flagged and removed, we notify the account holder via email. This email details the specific reason for flagging, enabling users to understand and address the issue. The exception is reviews that are moved to another agent's profile due to detailing their experience with that agent. Agents will be notified in this instance if more than 3 reviews are moved.
To ensure you stay informed, check notifications or emails from RateMyAgent for reasons behind flagged or missing reviews.
For more information on site content policies, please see our Terms and Conditions. (NZ), (USA).
Integrity is at the core of what we do, so if an agent has reviews that are not meeting our verification requirements on multiple occasions, further steps may be taken by RateMyAgent.
