Some properties include a quick live picture step (sometimes called a selfie) in addition to uploading your ID. Here's why we ask for it and how to complete it.
Why we ask for a live picture
The live picture confirms that you are physically present when you submit your ID — not someone using a stolen photo. We compare the picture against your ID photo to confirm a match.
What you'll need
A device with a working camera (your phone is easiest)
Good lighting on your face
Browser permission to use your camera
How to complete it
Tap Start Video Verification
Frame your face inside the boundaries shown
Tap the white circle to begin
Hold still — you may be asked to move closer or farther from the camera
Wait for the scan to complete
Can I skip this step?
Yes. You can opt out at any time by tapping the "x" in the top corner. The app will warn you that "not completing the identity verification may cause processing delays" — so it's worth completing if you can.
What we keep
We store a single still frame from the live picture — not the full recording — and the metadata needed to confirm the match.
