You have two money screens. They answer different questions and they will not agree with each other. That is expected.
📗 Books — give this one to your accountant
Dated by when the money moved, so it matches your bank statement. Rentals by payment date, extra charges by the date charged, expenses by their own date. Unpaid invoices stay out until they are paid.📈 Revenue — this is your operations report
Dated by pick-up date, so it shows what the fleet earned and when it was working. This is why it sits alongside utilisation: revenue by trailer and days-out by trailer describe the same period.
💡 Pro Tip
Book a rental on the 28th for a pick-up on the 3rd and it lands in this month's Books and next month's Revenue. Neither is wrong — one is following the money, the other is following the trailer.
💡 Pro Tip
Use Books for anything to do with tax, an accountant, or reconciling against your bank. Use Revenue for deciding which trailers to buy more of.
💡 Pro Tip
In Books you can scan a receipt and the system reads it and picks a category for you. You can override the category. Both screens export to CSV.
