🔗 I Bought a Second Identical Trailer — One Listing or Two?

Pooling two identical trailers into one listing, and when not to

You have bought a second trailer that is the same as one you already rent. You have two choices, and the right one depends on whether a customer would mind which they got.

  1. 🔗 Truly interchangeable? Use a pool.
A pool is one listing on your website. The customer books the listing and a free unit is assigned automatically — neither you nor they pick which one. Two identical 6×12 utilities are a pool.

  2. 🚫 Not quite the same? Keep them separate.
If a renter would be annoyed to arrive and find the other one, they are not a pool. A 6×12 and a 6×14 are separate listings however close the price.

  3. ⚙️ Setting a pool up
Open the Trailers tab, find the listing customers book, and use Manage pool to add the second unit.

What is shared, and what is not

  • Shared: category and daily rate. Adding a trailer to a pool sets it to that pool's category and rate, so make sure they really are priced alike first.

  • Not shared: each unit keeps its own name, VIN, pick-up address, lock code and smart lock. These are never copied from the main listing.

💡 Pro Tip
It is reversible. Remove a unit from a pool at any time and it goes back to being its own standalone listing, keeping its booking history.

⚠️ Every unit needs its own pick-up address, even if your whole fleet sits in one yard. Units in a pool are collected from wherever that unit is, which may not be where the main listing is.

⚠️ On smart locks, every unit needs its own Custom Value matching that unit's own name exactly. Pooling does not inherit the main listing's lock. A unit without its own matching Custom Value will take bookings quite happily and then generate no code for them.
