🧾 Changing the Category on a Scanned Receipt

The category on a scanned receipt is a suggestion — change it to whatever you want

When you scan a receipt into your Books, RentFlow reads it and picks a category for you. That pick is a suggestion, not a decision — you can change it, and the one you choose is the one that counts.

  1. 🧾 Open the expense
Find the scanned receipt in your Books.

  2. āœļø Change the category
Overwrite what it guessed with the category you actually want.

  3. šŸ’¾ Save
Your reports read the saved category, so the change lands everywhere at once.

šŸ’” Pro Tip
Pick your wording once and stay consistent. A receipt filed under ā€œTrailer Suppliesā€ and another under ā€œSuppliesā€ are two lines in your reports, not one, and it is much easier to be consistent from the start than to go back and tidy a year of them.

šŸ’” Pro Tip
Scanning is a shortcut for typing, not a bookkeeper. It reads what is printed on the paper — worth a glance at the amount and the date as well as the category, especially on a crumpled or faded receipt.
