Overview

Use On hold when you need to stop showings indefinitely.

When to use On hold

  1. You already have submitted applications and don't want to do more showings but don't yet want to turn off marketing

  2. A unit has a maintenance or access issue that does not have an expected earliest showing date

  3. You need to pause leasing without pulling the listing

Set a property to On hold

  1. Go to the Properties tab

  2. Select the property

  3. Click Take action โ†’ Mark as on hold

Note: If there are any scheduled showings, you will have the option to keep or cancel them.

What happens when a property is On hold

  • Marketing remains active on all listing sites

  • Prospects cannot schedule showings on their own

  • Showings must be scheduled manually

  • New leads are still responded to and logged

  • Follow-ups are turned off

The property stays visible, but leasing activity is paused.

Move a property back to Available

When youโ€™re ready to resume showings:

  1. Go to the Properties tab

  2. Select the property

  3. Click Take action โ†’ Mark as available

RentEngine will:

  • Notify all active leads

  • Help them schedule a showing automatically

  • Resume follow ups

No leads are lost while the property is on hold.

When to set an earliest showing date

If you do have an earliest showing date, you can use the Waitlist feature (more info here)
