Most guides tell you what you should do. Instead, this article is going to tell you what NOT to do as a ReplyAssist customer, so that you know to avoid it.
Important disclaimer - in the United States alone, there over 234 Million LinkedIn users. Yes - 234,000,000. So, do you REALLY think you can't find 100 clients from LinkedIn? We're confident you can.
You don't verify your LinkedIn account
LinkedIn wants to know that you're a real person, so to help keep your account in good standing with them (which will help you avoid a shadowban/block/ban of your account), verify your LinkedIn account with CLEAR. See image below to see the badge that shows up on your LinkedIn profile once you have Verifications setup. Note: it doesn't matter how good your outreach is (scripts + target audience) if you're not able to do any outreach due to issues with your LinkedIn account.
You forget to add new prospects into a Campaign
Not only should you start your first Campaign within the first 1-2 days of becoming a customer (the longer you wait to start your outreach, the longer it'll take to start generating quality leads), but you need to make sure to periodically check-in on your Campaign to make sure that you haven't run out of prospects to target. To do this, on the Campaigns page within your account, look at the "Not connected" number - that number shows you roughly how many new prospects you have to reach out to. As a rule of thumb, once that number gets to 50 or fewer, either add new prospects into the same Campaign or create a new Campaign with new prospects.
Here's how to create a Campaign in ReplyAssist. Skip to 9:45 minutes in to the video to see how to add prospects into a Campaign. Note: if using the "Import Saved Searches" Sales Navigator option to add in new prospects, make sure you're importing a "Saved Search" and not a "Lead List" (see image below).
You expect fast results
If you are expecting life-changing / business-changing results in 2-3 months, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Does LinkedIn outreach work? YES - especially when you use the Scheduled Send and Reminder features in the ReplyAssist Inbox to organize your entire follow up process to effectively & efficiently build rapport with your prospects. But, success with LinkedIn outreach (well... success, in general...) takes TIME. So please internalize the fact that the longer you use a tool like ReplyAssist, the more you'll build momentum with your outreach. And the more momentum you build, the more success you'll have. In general, things start "clicking" well for our customers once they get to the 4-6 month mark. So if result seem underwhelming after your first 2 months, that is perfectly normal.
You expect too many prospects to be interested
The majority of your prospects will NOT be interested at all (roughly 60% won't ever be interested), and MOST won't be interested right away (roughly 90%). That's just how the game of outreach goes for ALL of us - see the below image. Your goal is to get a meeting scheduled right now with that 10% group of prospects, and then use the Scheduled Send and Reminder features in your ReplyAssist Inbox to follow up with that other 30% in the coming weeks/months/years so that you keep the conversation going and they can move forward when THEY are ready. Note: prospects buy when THEY are ready, not when YOU want them to be ready. Internalize this fact.
Another note: even though it's enticing to do so, don't spend much of your time trying to convince/persuade that 60% group of prospects who isn't interested to become interested. Every second you waste on unfit/low quality prospects is time that could've otherwise been spent communicating with prospects who ARE interested.
You focus too much on yourself
If there's two phrases we could give you to write down and reread each day, those would be:
"Sales is NOT about YOU."
"What's in it for me?" (WIIFM)
Your prospects do not care about you or the firm you work for. They don't care about your credentials or team size. They care about themselves. So when you are talking to a prospect, if you want to get them genuinely engaged & interested in the conversation, you need to think from THEIR perspective of them thinking: "What's in it for me?". When a prospect responds to you on LinkedIn, at its core, they are trying to figure out what they can gain by talking to you. So, your goal is to figure out how you can help them get what they want. And the best way to do that is to get them talking by asking them open-ended questions. The more they talk, the more you understand their situation, and the better you understand their situation, the more you can help them.
