Important Notes:
Minimum Site Count: The bulk upload process is exclusively for submissions of 10 or more sites. For fewer than 10 sites, please use the single-site upload feature directly on the Restor platform.
Service Basis: This free service operates on a first-come, first-served basis. During periods of high request volume, processing times may be extended.
Post-Upload Modifications: The bulk upload is a one-way process. Any modifications after the process is complete must be made manually for each site through the Restor interface.
Send us your files at support@restor.eco, we'll process them, and then work with you to get all the necessary information filled out before uploading everything to your account.
1. Spatial Data Standards (File and Shape Rules)
Your data file must meet the following requirements:
Accepted Formats: Data must be submitted in one of these standard geospatial formats: .shp (Shapefile), .kml, .kmz, .geojson, or .json.
Single File Requirement: All site polygons must be included in one single file. Please do not send separate files that need manual merging or exclusion.
Site Shape Rule (Features): Each distinct site must be represented by exactly one shape (a 'feature'). This shape can be one polygon or a 'multipolygon' (a shape made of several joined polygons).
Polygon-Only Data: The file must contain only polygon shapes, not point locations or line shapes (polylines).
Minimum Area: Each site must cover at least 50 square meters (sqm) to ensure site visibility.
Vertex Limit (Complexity): Each site is limited to a maximum of 10,000 vertices (corner points) to ensure platform stability. If a site exceeds this limit, it must be simplified or split into smaller, uniquely named sites (e.g., by adding numbering such as …- 01, ...- 02, etc.) before submission.
2. Naming and Metadata
Proper identification is critical for managing your sites on the platform.
Unique Site Names: Each individual site must possess a unique name. We recommend the name to be easily identifiable for easy search and filtering. Please ensure that the attribute table contains a specific ID or Site Name column for this purpose.
Organization and Grouping: If you plan to group sites into a portfolio or collection later, we recommend adding any necessary prefixes (e.g., "Restoration Site - Site 01") to the site names in the attribute table beforehand.
Metadata Integration (optional): You may choose to incorporate Restor metadata fields directly within the file's attribute table. Please refer to the full list of required metadata here.
3. Alternative Submission: Point Data (Not Recommended)
If polygon data is unavailable, you may submit point locations. However, we strongly recommend using polygons as point-based submissions result in less accurate representations.
If submitting point data, please send a complete file or spreadsheet with the following information for each site:
Required Column | Description |
Site Name | A unique name for the individual site. |
Longitude | Location in Decimal Degrees (WGS 84). |
Latitude | Location in Decimal Degrees (WGS 84). |
Area Size | The size of the area in square meters (sqm). |
Our team will use this data to create standard square or circular polygon buffers around your coordinates.
4. Data Readiness and Support Policy
Our goal is to help you showcase your initiatives successfully. To ensure we can support all users efficiently, we require the following:
Finalized Data Submission: Restor only accepts finalized, "clean" files that strictly follow our outlined spatial data standards. To ensure an efficient process without manual corrections or site exclusions, please verify your file in a GIS program (like QGIS or ArcGIS) before submitting to confirm it contains only your intended sites, all required metadata, and has no shape errors (like self-intersections). Please note that sites with any duplicate site names will be merged and flattened, and only one copy of the duplicate shapes will remain after the upload process, regardless of different site names.
User Responsibility: While we provide guidance and minor troubleshooting, extensive GIS processing—such as redrawing geometries from images, manual cleaning of self-intersections, or large-scale data reformatting—must be completed by the users before submission.
If you have complex data needs beyond these standard procedures, please contact our team at support@restor.eco to discuss alternative solutions.
