Overview:

This article walks through how to enable warranties from third parties (not your Shopify or BigCommerce store) and how to ensure the settings match your policy. You can find that page here in your settings.

Third Party Warranty Enabled

  • Yes - You will accept returns from outside of your main (Shopify/BigCommerce) store

  • No - You will not accept returns from outside of your main store; if checked you need not worry about the other settings.

Third Party Warranty Authorization

  • Automatic - After lodging the RMA your shopper will receive their shipping instructions and a label (if applicable).

  • Manual - Your team will review the RMA after it is lodged and decide whether to accept it. Upon authorization the shopper will receive their instructions and label.

Product Image Collection

  • Required - Shoppers will be required to provide an image of the product they are returning.

  • Optional - Shoppers have the option to provide an image but it is not required to progress.

  • Disabled - No image will be collected.

Receipt Image Collection

  • Required - Shoppers will be required to provide an image of the receipt for the product they are returning.

  • Optional - Shoppers have the option to provide an image of the receipt but it is not required to progress.

  • Disabled - No image will be collected.

Can't Find Your Product Write-In Option

  • Yes - Shoppers will have an option to write-in the name of the product that they are returning. Your team will then have to reconcile this product to one within your catalog after lodgment. This is helpful for merchants with long warranties where items may have been retired, deleted, or archived.

  • No - Shoppers must select an item from your current catalog as their original purchase/item they are returning.

Custom Data Collection Fields

Add up to 3 custom fields for shoppers to fill out. Useful for collecting information such as serial numbers. You do not need to have any custom fields.

Third Party Purchase Locations

  • Yes - Shoppers will select their purchase location from a list presented. You will be able to set the list if "Yes" is selected.

  • No - Shoppers will write in their purchase location.

Allow International Claims

  • Yes - Shoppers will be able to make a Third Party Warranty regardless of their location.

  • No - If you do not have a warehouse in the shopper's provided country, the shopper will not be able to create a return.

Third Party Warranty Shipping Types

  • Customer - Shopper will receive the warehouse address and will be directed to purchase their own return label.

  • No Shipping - The shopper will be directed to keep the item, no label or shipping address will be provided.

  • Free Shipping - Shopper will receive a label automatically and the cost will be shouldered by the merchant.

Third Party Product Exclusions

Exclude products from the Third Party items catalog using a comma separated list of tags (eg. Excluded, Final Sale) or by SKU (use * for wildcard matching).

Inventory Threshold

The threshold for which products can be selected based on inventory. Products at or below this threshold will not be able to be selected for exchanges and warranties by customers. The number -1 can be used to allow overselling.
