The Logic Engine allows you to set up shipping rules to set a Shipping Type based on product tags, return types, and return reasons, one by one or with more complex interactions of the options.
The Default Engine
Our default setup has shipping set as Free Shipping for warranties and everything else (Refunds, Exchanges, etc.) will have Full Deduction Shipping.
Shipping by Return Type
If you want to set a separate shipping by each return type your engine will look something like this.
Start From Scratch
If you don't want to have your shipping types selected by Return Type, you've got other options, you can set the engine up to first look at the Return Reason or Product Tags.
In this example any of the products tagged "LargeItem" that are also warranties will have Free Shipping, but if they select another return type such as Refund it will have Customer Shipping.
Setting More Complex Rules
The Logic Engine allows you to get very granular with your shipping rules, a full chain of if/then resulting in your desired shipping option. In the below example the engine looks first at the return type and if it's not an Exchange, it's simple - Customer Shipping.
If the RMA is an exchange then we look at the reasons, if it is Quality (QTY) or Damage (DM) then we look at the product tag before deciding on a shipping type.
There are a lot of different options, you have a lot of customization options based on your workflow.
FAQs
Can I set a different result other than Shipping Type?
The current iteration of the Logic Engine is for setting Shipping Type rules, though in the future we may expand to different results.
What if my RMA has more than one item?
The logic engine will be applied to each item, if there is a conflict the shipping type with the highest priority will be selected for the RMA. Priorities are set under the Shipping Types tab here.
What happens if a shopper writes in a product during Third Party Warranty?
If a shopper writes in their product the shipping will always default to Customer Shipping.
