Ensure your shipping type display descriptions are accurate to properly direct your shoppers

Having accurate shipping label descriptions and instructions is essential for shoppers to have accurate expectations about how to ship their returns. It's also imperative that your staff members understand what a shopper needs to do based on the shipping type associated with the RMA so they can give the shopper correct instructions and manage shopper expectations.

While you are free to customize the customizable text as you see fit, you cannot alter the meaning of a shipping type or alter how it functions within the ReturnLogic platform. This means your customized text needs to agree with (and cannot contradict) the meaning that ReturnLogic provides in the Shipping Type Description. The ReturnLogic-provided Shipping Type Descriptions are in gray text boxes. You can manage your Shipping Types and their descriptions here in your settings.

TIPS:

  1. Even if you believe your shipping-type descriptions are currently accurate, go into your settings periodically and make sure all of your shipping-type display descriptions agree with the shipping-type descriptions that ReturnLogic provides.

  2. Share this article with your RMA processing team and anyone who makes changes to settings.


How can the descriptions differ but agree with each other?

Here is an example of a Shipping Type where the Shipping Type Description and Shipping Type Display Name are a bit different but agree with each other. In this example, the Fixed Deduction amount could be a standard $5.00 and it specifies that the shipping label that the merchant generates will be sent to the shopper by email.

Where will I see the Shipping Type Display Descriptions appear?

Your custom shipping type descriptions will appear here in settings. Because your staff will see them on this page and likely assume the descriptions are accurate, you will need to make sure they are accurate.

Where will I see the selected Shipping Type for a specific RMA?

If you open an RMA page, it will have a Shipping drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the page. Click on the circular arrow icon to open the Shipping section and view the Shipping Name and Description which will be populated with whatever type was selected. The shipping type that is automatically selected will be chosen based on the specific details of the RMA and your account settings. If you have questions about why a particular shipping type is selected for an RMA, please check out the ReturnLogic Help Center or reach out to support.

TIPS:

  1. You can also use this section of the RMA page to view the label that was generated for the shopper. Simply click on the view label link in blue to open the label and view it.

  2. If your shopper needs you to send over the label again, you can click on the email label link to re-send it to the shopper as needed.
